Job Description

Step into a high-impact media sales role with Market Media, The Warehouse Group’s powerhouse retail media network.

We’re not your average media team - we’re the bridge between beloved brands and millions of Kiwi shoppers, delivering smarter, sharper ways to connect both online, out-of-home and in-store. From creative campaigns and digital activations to impactful out-of-home opportunities across some of Aotearoa’s most iconic retail environments, we’re rewriting the retail media playbook - and we’re looking for a commercially sharp and effective Sales Director to help take our non-endemic growth to the next level.

Reporting to our Head of Retail Media Sales, your focus is on driving new revenue growth across The Warehouse Group’s retail media network by identifying, developing and securing advertising partnerships with non-endemic brands and agencies.

This is a strategic hunter role where you’ll uncover new market opportunities, champion our digital, data, retail media and out-of-home capabilities, and create compelling media solutions that can deliver impactful and measurable outcomes for clients. You’ll work closely with media agencies, direct advertisers and internal teams to build strong partnerships, unlock new revenue streams and position Market Media as a key consideration and destination for non-endemic advertisers.

Your day-to-day could include:

  • New business growth – Identify, develop and secure new non-endemic advertising partnerships across agency and direct client networks.
  • Strategic sales – Build compelling proposals, strategic solutions and recommendations that bring Market Media’s retail media, digital, data and OOH capabilities and opportunities to life.
  • Client and agency relationships – Develop trusted relationships with media agencies, advertisers and partners, acting as a confident advisor on retail media opportunities.
  • Commercial delivery – Own quarterly revenue and margin targets, proactively identifying opportunities to grow your portfolio and unlock new revenue streams.
  • Campaign oversight – Partner with internal teams across Creative, Digital, Buying, Operations and Marketing to ensure campaigns are set up for success and delivered seamlessly
  • Performance and insights – Work with internal specialists to understand campaign results, present insights and recommend optimisations

Why you’ll love it:

It’s the chance to build on the growth and success of one of New Zealand’s most exciting retail media networks. You’ll bring big ideas to market, open doors with new advertisers, and help brands connect with Kiwi shoppers in smarter, more meaningful ways.

  • Take the lead on growing non-endemic revenue for a fast-evolving retail media business
  • Work with media agencies, direct clients and household name brands
  • Use rich customer insight, data and media capability to create strategic solutions
  • Collaborate with a tight-knit, passionate and award-winning team of media pros
  • Play a role in shaping the future of how brands connect with Kiwi shoppers

Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

  • Proven business development experience within media, advertising, retail media or a related environment
  • Strong relationships and experience working with New Zealand media agencies and/or direct clients
  • A track record of selling multiple media formats and meeting or exceeding revenue and margin targets
  • Solid understanding of digital media, retail media, OOH, social, programmatic and display opportunities
  • Commercial confidence, strategic thinking and the ability to spot growth opportunities
  • Strong client relationship management skills, with experience acting as a trusted advisor
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
  • Sharp organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple opportunities and campaigns
  • A proactive, adaptable and hungry mindset - you’re ready to open doors, build momentum and make things happen
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to work across teams to deliver great outcomes

About The Warehouse Group

The Warehouse Group (TWG) is a New Zealand success story, founded by Sir Stephen Tindall and evolved from a single The Warehouse store to become one of the largest retailing groups in New Zealand with $3 billion in sales. TWG consists of three core retail brands: The Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery, and Noel Leeming. We have over 180 retail stores, online stores as well as distribution centres throughout New Zealand. We also have two overseas sourcing offices located in China and India. We are a people-centred business with more than 10,000 team employees across our locations.

TWG is known for being Here for Good - it’s who we are and what keeps us focused to succeed. It represents our commitment to better living for all New Zealanders, through sustainable retail products and practices and the mission of contributing to the long-lasting health of our planet.

Over the years, we’ve raised over 50 million dollars for New Zealand communities and have contributed to countless community-focussed initiatives. We were the first company in New Zealand to add a Shielded Site link to the Women's Refuge website to help protect those experiencing family violence, and were a key supporter of the Government’s Family Violence Victims’ Protection Bill. We were New Zealand’s first large company and the third major retailer in the world to go carbon neutral.

While we are 40+ years old as a business, in many ways we feel we’re just getting started.
