Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

Role Scope

Country-wide leadership of Japan Sales strategy, business performance, customers, organization and ecosystem engagement

Role Summary

The Japan Sales Director owns the overall sales strategy, business performance, customer engagement and organizational leadership for Micron in Japan. The role is accountable for translating Micron and Asia Sales priorities into a clear Japan growth strategy, delivering sustainable revenue and market-share expansion, and strengthening Micron’s position across strategic OEM, automotive, gaming, consumer, server, industrial, enterprise, cloud and channel ecosystems.

This leader serves as the senior commercial voice for Japan, representing customer and market needs within Micron while aligning closely with Business Units, global and regional Sales, Customer Engineering, Commercial Strategy, Supply Chain, Pricing, Government Affairs and other cross-functional partners. The role leads the Japan Sales organization, builds future leadership capability and ensures disciplined execution in a dynamic memory market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Japan country sales strategy, annual operating priorities and multi-year growth plan, with clear objectives for revenue, profitability, market share, design wins, strategic agreements and customer portfolio development.
  • Lead end-to-end business performance across Japan, establishing a rigorous operating cadence for forecasting, pipeline, pricing, supply allocation, account execution, risks, opportunities and corrective actions.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior executives at Japan’s strategic customers and partners; ensure transparent communication and strong customer confidence through product transitions, supply constraints, pricing changes and other complex business conditions.
  • Act as the voice of the Japan market and customers within Micron. Influence Business Units and global functions by translating local market signals, customer roadmaps, competitive dynamics and allocation impacts into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Drive sustainable growth beyond the established customer base by expanding opportunities in automotive, gaming, consumer and mobile, industrial and distribution, enterprise, Mid-Tier Cloud, data center, AI and other emerging segments.
  • Advance a subsegment-led go-to-market model that strengthens ownership, customer coverage, direct engagement with Business Units and Regional Sales Leaders, and identification of new design-in and revenue opportunities.
  • Lead strategic account planning and executive engagement, including long-term agreements, strategic commercial agreements, design-win priorities, payment terms, pricing strategy and other initiatives that strengthen long-term customer value.
  • Partner with Government Affairs and other stakeholders to surface and address Japan government, industry and ecosystem topics, and help position Micron effectively within Japan’s technology and semiconductor landscape.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing Japan Sales organization. Set clear accountability, delegate meaningful ownership, coach leaders and team members, strengthen succession planning and attract market-leading talent.
  • Optimize the country organization, coverage model and partner ecosystem to improve productivity, decision speed and execution quality while maintaining strong customer support.
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration across Sales, FAE, CSO, Business Units, Pricing, Supply Chain, Finance and other functions, ensuring that Japan priorities are understood and executed as One Micron.
  • Promote practical adoption of AI, digital tools and data-driven analysis to improve customer preparation, account planning, forecasting, business reviews, decision quality and team productivity.
  • Demonstrate Micron’s values and leadership attributes through customer focus, strategic execution, tenacity, collaboration, growth mindset, people development and high-integrity decision-making.

Leadership Outcomes

  • A differentiated and actionable Japan strategy aligned with Asia Sales and Micron enterprise priorities.
  • Consistent delivery of business commitments with improved visibility, forecast discipline and execution accountability.
  • Deeper executive relationships and stronger trust with strategic customers, partners and relevant ecosystem stakeholders.
  • Broader growth engines across established accounts and emerging segments, supported by a healthy pipeline of design wins and new business opportunities.
  • A resilient, engaged and future-ready Japan Sales organization with strong leadership depth, succession capability and modern ways of working.

Qualifications

  • Extensive leadership experience in semiconductor, memory, storage, technology or a closely related industry, with significant responsibility for sales, business development, country management or strategic accounts in Japan.
  • Demonstrated success leading a sizeable and complex business, including revenue ownership, strategic planning, executive customer engagement and cross-functional execution.
  • Deep understanding of the Japan technology ecosystem and business culture, with established credibility among major OEMs, channel partners and industry stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor and memory-market dynamics, including design-in and qualification cycles, product roadmaps, pricing, supply allocation, forecasting and competitive positioning.
  • Proven people leadership capability, including leading leaders, coaching diverse teams, building accountability, developing talent, succession planning and organizational design.
  • Ability to influence across a global matrix organization and align Business Units, regional and global Sales, engineering, operations and corporate functions around country priorities.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset with the ability to convert market and customer insight into clear choices, resource priorities and executable plans.
  • Executive presence, sound judgment, high integrity and the ability to communicate effectively during ambiguity, conflict and high-stakes negotiations.
  • Fluent Japanese and strong business English, with excellent presentation, negotiation, influencing and closing skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering or any related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive sales, business development or commercial leadership experience, including substantial leadership experience in Japan. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
