Job Description
About the company
Our client is an early-stage AI and developer-tools company building an AI support engineer for technical support teams. The product understands how software is built and used across code, configuration, documentation, logs, and prior tickets so it can resolve issues that would otherwise escalate to engineering. Founded in 2025, the four-person company has raised $4 million, is backed by a leading venture firm, and already works with major enterprise customers.
The role and why it matters
You will join the founding team to build top-of-funnel demand and help create the company's go-to-market playbook from the ground up. This is a research-driven outbound role for someone who can speak credibly with technical buyers, personalize outreach around real product and infrastructure problems, and consistently book qualified meetings. Strong performance offers an accelerated path into an Account Executive role.
What you'll do
- Prospect into technical buyers including CTOs, VPs of Engineering, and support-engineering leaders at B2B software companies.
- Research target accounts, technical stacks, organization structures, and likely pain points before outreach.
- Run coordinated outbound across email, LinkedIn, and phone.
- Book at least 10 qualified meetings per month for the founding team.
- Follow up quickly and contextually with warm and inbound leads from product signups, content, and events.
- Work directly with the founders to improve messaging, targeting, systems, and the broader outbound playbook.
- Use modern sales and data tools such as Clay, Lemlist, Apollo, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 6 months to 2 years of SDR or BDR experience at a developer-tools, infrastructure, API, security, or similarly technical B2B startup.
- A record of selling to engineering and other technical buyers.
- Strong research, written communication, and phone skills.
- Comfort discussing a complex technical product with CTOs and engineering leaders.
- Resourcefulness, persistence, and the ability to perform without a fully built playbook or heavy management oversight.
- Familiarity with Clay and Lemlist or comparable outbound data and sequencing tools.
- Motivation to progress into a closing role.
- Stable performance history, with clear context for any short tenures.
Bonus points
- Experience helping build an early-stage or founding sales motion.
- A technical or business-adjacent degree, such as computer science, engineering, or information systems.
Benefits
Compensation and benefits
- $85K-$100K base salary.
- $120K-$140K on-target earnings.
- Uncapped commission with accelerators beyond quota.
- Equity participation.
- Accelerated path to an Account Executive role for strong performers.
Location and work authorization
- Full-time and on-site in San Mateo, California, five days per week.
- Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.
- Candidates who are relocating should be able to start in San Mateo within three to four weeks.
- The company cannot provide visa sponsorship for this role.
