Rural King is seeking a Sales Consultant to provide knowledgeable sales support across agricultural, power equipment, farm, lawn and garden, tools, and home essentials. This role helps customers find the right products while supporting sales, financing, special orders, and store operations.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

Sales & Customer Experience

• Understand customer needs, applications, preferences, and budget to recommend appropriate products and solutions.
• Provide product information, explain features and benefits, and conduct demonstrations when needed.
• Build customer relationships through exceptional service, follow-up, and issue resolution.
• Use upselling and cross-selling techniques to support sales goals and promote store offers and loyalty programs.

Product & Store Support

• Provide product expertise across power equipment, farm equipment, tools, lawn and garden, live animals, heating, fencing, batteries, pools, and home essentials.
• Assist with retail financing and required documentation for equipment purchases.
• Process power equipment store stock and customer special orders.
• Assist with receiving, moving, and displaying merchandise.
• Maintain sales floor presentation through zoning, signage, merchandising, and cleanliness.
• Help customers locate products and recommend alternatives when items are unavailable.
• Maintain customer information for orders, product availability, and follow-up.

Store & Team Support

• Process sales, special orders, returns, and other transactions using POS and store systems.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve sales goals and support store operations.
• Participate in cross-training and required training to stay current on company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; agriculture-related education or certifications preferred.
• Previous sales, customer service, retail, agricultural, or related experience preferred.
• Strong communication, active listening, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to recommend solutions based on customer needs and work toward sales goals.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use POS, inventory systems, Microsoft Office, and retail technology.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, push, and/or pull 30 pounds repetitively and 31–50 pounds intermittently.
• Ability to use ladders and pallet jacks.
• Ability to walk up and down stairs multiple times per day.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and associates.
• Close visual awareness required.

Compensation

Exact compensation determined by factors such as geographic location, education, certifications, experience, job level, shift, and organizational needs. Eligible associates may also receive overtime pay in compliance with applicable laws.
