• Operating Hours: Monday-Saturday 8am-5pm

As a Sales Associate, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service to chefs, restaurant owners, and cooking enthusiasts. You will ensure smooth transactions, resolve customer inquiries, and maintain a positive shopping experience. In addition to assisting customers, you will be responsible for achieving sales goals, handling quotes and bids, and conducting active outreach to both lapsed and current customers, as well as driving upselling initiatives on the sales floor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Assistance & Sales Support:
• Assist professional chefs, restaurant owners, and cooking enthusiasts with their purchases at the counter.
• Proactively communicate and collaborate with vendors and customers to facilitate special orders.
• Provide active upselling on the sales floor, identifying opportunities to enhance customer orders and increase revenue.

Goal Achievement & Sales Outreach:
• Achieve weekly and monthly sales goals to contribute to the overall success of the store.
• Engage in the quote/bid process and ensure diligent follow-up with customers.
• Conduct active outreach to both lapsed and current customers to foster ongoing relationships and repeat business.

Issue Resolution:
• Resolve customer complaints promptly and effectively.
• Process refunds and exchanges with a customer-focused mindset.

Independent Work & Transaction Handling:
• Work independently or with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and responsibility.
• Accept payments, ensuring accuracy in prices and quantities, and provide receipts to every customer.
• Bag purchases to ensure safe transport.
• Balance the cash register and generate reports for credit and debit sales.

Workspace & Customer Interaction:
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace to enhance the shopping environment.
• Occasionally visit customers to strengthen relationships and gather valuable feedback.

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Energetic personality with a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to multi-task and learn quickly in a dynamic retail environment.
• Computer literacy is a must.
• Foodservice industry experience is a plus.

COMPETENCIES:
• Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is strongly preferred; being bilingual in another language relevant to the local area is also a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with vendors, customers, and team members.
• Proven capability to multitask, learn quickly, and adapt to the dynamic demands of a retail environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• High School diploma or GED, or equivalent Military or practical experience.
• 1 – 2 years of previous cashier and customer service experience is required.
• Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.

Compensation includes the posted base salary range and does not reflect potential commission, incentive, bonus, or other additional compensation opportunities, where applicable. Total compensation is determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, geographic location, and other job-related compensatory factors.
In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark’s’ benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc. Leadership positions may also qualify for participation in bonus programs commensurate with role and scope of responsibility.
