Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sales Assistant / Van Driver to join our busy Plumbing & Heating branch in Barnstaple. This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll be a key part of the team, delivering excellent customer service while supporting both sales and operations.

You’ll be the friendly face of the branch, working on the trade counter, supporting customers with their needs and ensuring deliveries are completed safely and on time.

If you enjoy working with customers, have an interest in plumbing and heating (particularly renewables and sustainable products) and like a role with variety, this could be perfect for you.

Customer Service & Sales

• Deliver outstanding customer service - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable
• Act as the first point of contact for customers on the trade counter and over the phone
• Provide advice and guidance on plumbing & heating products
• Identify sales opportunities and support the wider sales team
• Build strong relationships with customers and understand their needs

Branch Operations

• Accurately pick, load and unload customer orders
• Receive and check goods from suppliers
• Maintain stock levels and assist with merchandising
• Follow all Health & Safety procedures and company policies

Driving & Deliveries

• Carry out multi-drop deliveries to customers
• Load vehicles safely and ensure secure transportation of goods
• Act as a professional and friendly representative of the business on-site

What We’re Looking For

• A customer-focused individual with a positive, can-do attitude
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A full UK driving licence
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Flexible and reliable approach to work
• Comfortable handling goods in line with HSE guidelines

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience or knowledge of plumbing and heating products
• Interest in renewables and sustainable solutions
