This position reports to:

Market Development Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will lead the Coast Guard & Navy Segment Sales within the Market Development team in ABB Marine Propulsion from a global perspective.You will build and maintain long-term relationships with customer stakeholders, open doors to new opportunities and support the segment-specific sales and market development. The ideal candidate combines a holistic understanding of sales activities and processes in maritime industry within propulsion sales, a deep segment knowledge with a solid commercial mindset, capable of structuring competitive yet profitable proposals and navigating complex requirements.

This position can be based in Fornebu or Ulsteinvik, Norway or in Vuosaari, Helsinki, Finland.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Developing and maintaining the Coast Guard & Navy Segment Sales for ABB Marine Propulsion.
• Build market intelligence to identify Navy vessel segments with strong value potential for Azipod® propulsion, including annual volume and revenue opportunity.
• Build long-term relationships with Naval operators, designers, shipyards, and consultants to promote ABB Marine propulsion solutions within the segment.
• Identify and drive the development of market and sales opportunities, managing the entire sales process through to contract negotiations.
• Developing and executing sound sales strategies for the segment that expands our client base and extends global reach.
• Stay tuned about market trends providing optimal solutions and incorporating client feedback for continuous improvement, including also representing ABB in trade events.
• Managing administrative procedures in sales processes.

Qualifications for the role

• 5 + years of experience within sales in the maritime industry. We value knowledge and experience in propulsion systems.
• B.Sc or M.Sc in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architect.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with technical and commercial requirements related to Navy and Coast Guard projects.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
• Ability to build and execute sales and marketing strategy. Eager to increase our market share and grow our revenue.
• Ability to develop and promote customer value proposition concepts.
• Understanding market research principles.
• Travel internationally about 50-70 days per year.

Security clearance requirement

In Norway:

This position requires security clearance by the Norwegian National Security Authority.

The successful candidate may start work with limited access whilst the clearance is being processed. Please note that this might affect the offer process or employment. 

In Finland:

As a part of the recruitment we will conduct a security clearance check with the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (Supo) to the selected candidate as a prerequisite for employment. (SUPO), which might affect the offer process or employment.
