Job Description

Melbourne is Australia’s fastest growing city, and public transport is vital to keeping it moving. Since 2009, Metro has proudly operated and maintained a world-class train service and delivered major transport projects that shape the future of our city. Guided by our value of Safely Always, we are one team dedicated to ensuring everyone gets home safely while helping to connect and create a better Melbourne.

We are looking for an experienced Occupation Safeworking Planner to play a key role in the safe planning and delivery of Facilities occupations across the network. In this role, you’ll ensure works are carried out safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to passengers. You will provide expert guidance, coordinate access, and help drive continuous improvement in safeworking practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate safeworking protection for all Facilities occupations, resolving clashes and ensuring alignment across Infrastructure and internal teams
  • Assess and manage passenger-facing impacts, working closely with MTM Operations on disruptive and non‑disruptive occupation planning
  • Assist with safeworking queries, providing safeworking advice and resourcing numbers
  • Support the development of safeworking policies, procedures, and best-practice frameworks
  • Work collaboratively with AROs, Projects and Third Parties to ensure access, streamlined occupations and successful work delivery
  • Conduct onsite visits to carry out safeworking risk assessments for upcoming occupations.
  • Design Protection Diagrams using Adobe software in accordance with all current Metro policies and procedures.

About You

  • TFPC Level 3.2
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in safeworking, rail operations, and network environments
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop (preferred)

If you’re a dedicated safeworking professional looking to contribute to the safe and reliable delivery of rail operations, we encourage you to apply now.
