The Safety Training Manager provides strategic leadership for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s safety training programs. This role oversees the development of hazard-specific training content, manages vendor relationships, ensures regulatory compliance, and leads a team responsible for training delivery and LMS administration. The manager plays a key role in shaping the organization’s safety culture, reducing risk, and supporting operational excellence across all facilities.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Program Management
· Develop and execute the company’s safety training strategy to support corporate safety objectives and regulatory compliance.
· Collaborate closely with EHS leaders, Plant Managers, HR, and Operations to identify training needs and align priorities.
· Lead the planning, budgeting, and prioritization of safety training initiatives across all sites.
· Establish and maintain training governance, including standards, documentation, and quality assurance processes.
Training Development & Delivery Oversight
· Facilitate the creation of hazard-specific safety training programs (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Working at Heights).
· Ensure consistent delivery of training across all sites through standardized materials and facilitator guidance.
Regulatory Compliance & Continuous Improvement
· Ensure all training programs meet or exceed OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and company requirements.
· Monitor regulatory changes and industry trends to proactively update training content.
· Develop and track KPIs to measure training effectiveness, engagement, and impact on safety performance.
Learning Management System (LMS) Oversight and Competency Programs
· Oversee LMS configuration, reporting, and data integrity to ensure accurate tracking of training completion.
· Lead the evaluation and selection of LMS enhancements, tools, and external training technologies.
· Manage companywide certification programs for employees in high-risk roles.
· Develop competency frameworks and progression paths for safety-critical job functions.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Training, or related field (or equivalent experience).
· 5–7 years of experience in safety training, curriculum development, or EHS roles.
· Experience with LMS administration and e-learning development.
· Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and hazard-specific safety requirements.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills.
· Proficiency in MS Office; advanced Excel skills preferred.
Preferred Qualifications - What Will Set You Apart
· Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
· Familiarity with SCORM-compliant training modules.
· Certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour (General Industry or Construction), NFPA 70E, or CSP.
