Job Description

Position Title: Safety Technician - Field Staff
Department: Safety
Reports to: Safety Officer
Compensation: Hourly starting range $20 -$30; Commensurate to Skills and Experience
Hours: Full-time; Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

Maas Energy Works is the leading developer and operator of agricultural waste-to-energy systems in the United States. The Company designs, develops, constructs, and operates biogas renewable energy generation systems, primarily on dairy farms. Our projects include anaerobic digesters, biogas-powered electric generation, and renewable natural gas upgrading.

The Safety Technician will support the Safety Team in overseeing and managing safety protocols and procedures at our dairy digester, biogas, and biogas conditioning plants. This includes assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety protocols, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations. The Safety Technician will play a key role in promoting a safe work environment for all employees and contractors involved in site operations.
Responsibilities
• Regulatory Compliance: Help ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, environmental, and industry-specific guidelines.
• Incident Response and Investigation: Assist in incident investigations, help determine root causes and support the implementation of corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
• Safety Training and Education: Provide safety training and guidance to staff, ensuring they are aware of safety practices while still able to execute their roles efficiently.
• Risk Assessments: Conduct risk assessments and safety audits regularly to identify potential hazards, offering practical solutions that align with the fast-paced nature of biogas operations.
• Emergency Preparedness: Help develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures, ensuring all employees are trained and prepared for potential incidents.
• Collaboration with Operations: Work closely with plant operators to create a culture of safety that supports high productivity, without imposing unnecessary restrictions on operational flow.
• Promote a Culture of Safety: Foster a workplace environment that prioritizes safety as a core value, while also promoting efficiency and high up time in all operations.
Qualifications & Skills
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in the renewable energy or dairy, agriculture or utility industries.
• Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory compliance requirements.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote sites as needed.
• Proficiency with standard computer applications and productivity systems
• Must be proficient in English.

Physical Demand Requirements
Work Environment
This job primarily operates in the field, visiting various dairy digesters, biogas, and biogas conditioning plants. The role involves a mix of office work and fieldwork, requiring the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers, as well as traveling to different sites.
Physical Demands
This role involves significant driving and traveling to remote sites, often in varying weather conditions. The position requires the ability to walk up and down stairs, navigate uneven terrain, enter, travel in, and exit vehicles. The role also includes periods of sedentary work while using a computer and other office equipment
