Overall governance
• Ensure understanding of safety and security operations policy, procedures, action plan, and contingency plan, in order to understand tasks needed to be carried out according to function’s policies and frameworks, as well as to ensure alignment and compliance with legal regulations and with the company’s overall direction, standards, and governance.
• Support periodic revision of policies, standards, guidelines, work processes and procedures that are relevant to safety, security, and emergency preparedness-related work, to ensure efficient operation and alignment with company’s policies & compliance with relevant governance
Function-related accountabilities
1. Safety and security operations
• Perform basic activities in planning and executing people safety and security activities, to ensure alignment with function's strategy and objectives and compliance with relevant rules and regulations.
• Inspect and maintain equipment as well as relevant utilities and power systems in worksites before operational activities begin, in order to ensure employees' safety and security.
• Keep track of work environments to ensure safety standards are met by employees and relevant stakeholders such as suppliers/contractors
• Perform basic activities in incident investigation and reporting according to standards and policy, as well as support senior members in determining corrective actions to ensure effectiveness and alignment with standards.
• Perform basic activities in issuing warnings and periodically revising assessments on overall security level and safety risks for each area (including bombing, terrorism likelihood/threats, demonstrations/riots, political tension/movements/uprising/unrest, coup/crackdown, natural disaster warnings, and crime rate), as well as disseminating assessment and warnings to relevant parties within the organization, in order to ensure awareness regarding safety and security in each site.
• Perform basic activities in assessing and mitigating risks in both conventional and unconventional tasks that employees need to perform in worksites, in order to ensure employees' safety and security and to support smooth business operations.
• Perform basic activities regarding traffic management to ensure vehicles and pedestrians using site routes can move around safely.
• Support senior members in coordination and communication with other functions and external parties to ensure safety and security practices are being implemented efficiently and appropriately across, and to ensure all safety and security requirements are professionally fulfilled.
• Support senior members in coordination with suppliers/contractors on training courses that are appropriate for any unfamiliar/hazardous operations being introduced onto worksites to ensure safety awareness always remains high.
• Support senior members in coordination with local government agencies and governing bodies regarding any threats and risks that WHA's employees are exposed to, to discuss, develop and implement preventive measures and mitigation.
2. Emergency preparedness & response implementation
• Perform basic activities in planning and implementing emergency preparedness and response according to standards and manuals, including fire prevention and suppression in worksites, to ensure sufficient preparation to secure stakeholders' safety.
• Survey, inspect, and assess risks/potential hazards of worksites continuously to ensure unusual objects/events are exhaustively investigated.
• Perform basic activities in implementing fire drills and other emergency evacuation practices, in order to ensure employees’ safety, prevent severe accidents and assets loss, as well as to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
• Support senior members in coordination and communication with relevant functions regarding emergency preparedness and fire service, as well as outside parties such as private agencies and related government agencies to ensure emergency response in a timely manner.
