Job Purpose
The Health, Safety & Sustainability Lead is charged with managing and steering the Safety and Sustainability agenda for the Vista Manufacturing site at Deer Park. They focus on promoting safe work outcomes for our team, customers, and suppliers by managing and steering outstanding health and safety measures.
Key Job Functions:
- Lead the complete development and oversight of the Health & Safety approach and the Sustainability plan for the Vista ANZS Manufacturing site at Deer Park
- Manage the full development process and administration of policies and procedures connected to occupational health and safety standards defined by the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004.
- Coordinate the application of Vista’s Health, Safety and Sustainability Policies and Standards to maintain a workplace free from injury, discrimination and harassment.
- Take an active role in shaping and supporting a culture that values safety and wellbeing. Ensure open communication and consultation about Health, Safety, and Sustainability at the site and worldwide.
- Lead and support all operational tasks on site related to continuous improvement
- Provide expert practical advice, recommendations, and solutions on all facets of Health, Safety & Sustainability management, including legislative compliance and the management of any risk
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and management of psychosocial risks within the workplace to ensure adherence to updated OH&S regulations
- Coordinate the Permit to Work (PTW) system and high-risk work licensing for all third-party contractors
- Lead regular Health, Safety & Sustainability audits and inspection functions and deliver technically sound recommendations and solutions
- Lead and effectively manage environmental risks and environmental sustainability
- Lead Emergency Response management for the site
- Direct and coordinate applicable Health, Safety & Sustainability compliance training for team members (First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, CPR, Defibrillator training etc)
- Provide mentorship on Health, Safety & Sustainability aspects of new equipment, products and processes.
- Actively prepare and conduct training for team members and contractors, incorporating site safety inductions
- Develop and maintain all Health, Safety & Sustainability related training documentation
- Take initiative to lead and assist with the development, review, and approval of all Standard Operating Procedures on site
- Direct and manage all workers compensation, return to work and rehabilitation efforts, interacting with insurers. Complete internal documentation and ascertain root cause
- Serve as the expert and main contact for all Health, Safety & Sustainability matters with internal and external collaborators. Support these partners to ensure adherence and an outstanding approach.
- Support the People & Culture team in implementing the Wellbeing Plan for Vista ANZS
- Be the expert to advise on Health, Safety & Sustainability legislation, government policy and contractual obligations. Ensure this by maintaining a current professional knowledge of State and Federal legislation and regulations with respect to Health, Safety & Sustainability. Provide mentorship to ensure compliance, inform management and develop action plans to address any gaps. Bring all issues or concerns requiring immediate action or have potential legal ramifications to the attention of the Plant Director & Head of People & Culture.
Experience /Training
- Formal credentials in Health and Safety (essential)
- Extensive experience in the area of Health, Safety and Sustainability - especially within manufacturing/production and sustainability
- Experience in managing workplace injuries in a manufacturing environment.
- RTW Coordinator certificate
- First Aid certificate (highly desirable)
- Mental Health First Aid certification (highly desirable)
