In this role, you’ll act as the CFC and Hub network subject matter expert, providing technical advice, coaching, and guidance on transport safety, critical risk reduction, and overall wellbeing. You’ll support the delivery of the Transport Safety plan and embed operational practices across on-road transport, yard traffic management, and safe customer deliveries.
Working closely with local CFC operations teams, you’ll help manage relationships with regulators, ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) laws, while also elevating Coles as a leading safety advocate in eCommerce retail operations.
You’ll play a key role in fostering a strong safety culture by implementing structured frameworks and feedback loops with the van driver network, including safety committees, toolbox talks, and intervention programs, while also building leadership capability across the business.
Provide expert advice and support on transport safety, risk management, and compliance across CFC and Hub operations
Ensure robust frameworks and controls are in place to effectively mitigate risk across the van network
Lead and support the implementation of the Transport Safety Plan and National Safety initiatives
Conduct and review risk assessments, ensuring practical and commercially viable risk reduction strategies
Monitor safety performance and compliance through key metrics and translate insights into targeted safety initiatives
Maintain strong reporting frameworks, escalating risks and providing clear insights to senior leadership
Support internal and external audit requirements, including business assurance and regulatory compliance
Drive continuous improvement through effective implementation plans
Lead change management initiatives to embed safe practices across operational teams
Partner with stakeholders to deliver safety programs, including mental health and wellbeing initiatives
Build engagement across teams through consultation, communication, and safety leadership
Promote a strong compliance culture, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
Provide visible frontline leadership, partnering with van drivers, operations teams, and senior leaders to embed safe behaviours
Manage end-to-end risks across the value chain from CFC yard operations through to spoke networks and customer delivery points
Strong experience in health and safety, transport safety, and risk management, ideally within FMCG, logistics, or manufacturing environments
Proven ability to lead safety initiatives and drive change in fast-paced, operational settings
Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, and compliance frameworks
Capability to balance safety, risk, and commercial outcomes with practical solutions
Experience developing and implementing safety strategies aligned to business objectives
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills across frontline teams and senior leaders
Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to interpret safety data and translate insights into meaningful frontline initiatives
Familiarity with safety reporting systems and compliance monitoring
(Desirable) Formal qualifications in Safety, Risk, or a related field
