Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • Responsible for all safety compliance within the facility.
  • Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
  • Proactive and creative in finding and implementing new ideas to improve safety and reduce risk to our people.
  • Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions.
  • Assists with additional work duties or responsibilities as evident or required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement safety plans while ensuring that they are being followed daily.
  • Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel.
  • Responsible for overall compliance pertaining to safety including employee safety, equipment safety and any compliance to outside regulatory agencies, i.e. OSHA and DEP.
  • Responsible for coordination and completion of all safety incident and accident reports to include but not limited to OSHA Logs and OSHA Reports.
  • Reviews Safety SOP’s for accuracy and compliance. Updates said SOP’s as necessary.
  • Responsible to ensure that all Safety related certifications are up to date for necessary employees (CPR, First Aid, Forklift, respirator, etc.)
  • Coordinates all Safety related inspections for facilities.
  • Perform route/ monthly inspections of all life safety equipment e.g. fire extinguisher, eye wash, Narcan etc. Replace as necessary. and completes safety presentations for all current or new employees.
  • Provides guidance for programs and techniques to enhance safety awareness and maintain employee motivation in regards to safety.
  • Investigate accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident

Supplemental Functions:

  • Assists with organizing and documenting Safety Committee meetings quarterly.
  • Calibrate with both internal and external departments resolve safety issues.
  • All other necessary duties required of the position or requested by Management.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • All other necessary duties required of the position or requested by Management.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires bending, typing, lifting, standing, talking, hearing, sitting and walking throughout the facility.
