Description & Requirements

At Bupa, purpose meets possible. Join us and help shape a future where healthcare is more connected, more personal and more human.

We’re a global healthcare leader trusted by millions and committed to helping people to live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world. Healthcare is changing, and so are we. We’re investing in more clinics, better systems and smarter, more connected ways to help our customers. As we continue to expand our services and invest in innovation, you’ll help create a healthcare system that meets people where they are, responds to what they need and leaves them better than before.

Here, your work has purpose, your voice matters and your future is full of possibility. Just imagine the impact you could make.

The purpose of this role:

This role is central to supporting safe and compliant operations across Bupa Aged Care. As a Safety Specialist, you will partner closely with leaders and operational teams to embed practical, consistent safety processes, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and organisational standards.

Reporting to the Senior Safety Manager, you will provide hands-on technical advice across day-to-day safety activities including risk assessments, audits, incident investigations, project work and regulatory engagement. By working side-by-side with stakeholders, you will strengthen safety capability, drive accountability, and support continuous improvement across the business to ensure safe, effective outcomes for both employees and residents.

What you’ll need to make it possible

  • Demonstrated relevant experience within a health services, aged care, or social assistance environment
  • Occupational Health and Safety related qualification
  • Proven ability to undertake WHS risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety projects, with a strong focus on practical outcomes
  • Experience delivering WHS training and building safety capability across operational teams
  • Highly organised with strong time management skills, able to prioritise effectively and deliver in fast-paced, high-volume environments
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce structured documentation and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Proactive and self-driven, with a strong track record of improving systems, processes, and safety performance while working collaboratively within a team environment

Why you’ll love it?

We support our people to be the healthiest and happiest versions of themselves. From providing initiatives that develop careers to looking after our people’s health, wellbeing and futures. Enjoy the flexibility of hybrid working, with a mix of time in the office and at home, while having plenty of opportunities to learn, grow, and take your experience to the next level.

If this sounds exciting, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s shape the future of healthcare, together.

Here at Bupa your wellbeing, identity, and personal story are respected and valued. We are committed to building diverse teams that are reflective of the communities we serve and fostering a fair and inclusive workplace free from discrimination, bullying and harassment. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds and experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, veterans, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ applicants and are dedicated to removing barriers to participation.
