Job Description

About the role

Tritium manufactures some of the world's most advanced DC fast charging equipment. Our Brisbane sites, Miller Street and Willawong, are high-energy environments where HV switchboards, DC test rigs, and prototype charging systems are part of daily life. We need a Safety Specialist who belongs on the floor, not behind a desk.

This is a hands-on lead role. You'll own day-to-day WHS operations across both sites, hold custodianship of the Site Electrical Safety Plan, and be the person who diagnoses and fixes safety issues at the source; not the person who writes a report and calls a contractor.

You'll report to the Head of People & Culture and work closely with Operations, Test Engineering, Production Engineering, and Field Services.

What you'll do

  • Own and continuously improve the Site Electrical Safety Plan — isolation procedures, HV switching, DC test protocols, Permit-to-Work, LOTO, and energised work authorisations
  • Maintain a visible, on-the-floor presence at both sites, resolving safety issues directly at the source rather than routing them to external contractors
  • Coach and intervene on the production and test floor for safe systems of work involving HV equipment, DC test rigs, and energy storage
  • Lead incident investigations using ICAM or equivalent, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions through to closure
  • Manage the full contractor safety lifecycle — pre-qualification, induction, work authorisation, supervision, and post-job verification
  • Partner with Test Engineering and Production Engineering to design safe systems of work for new test platforms, DC fast charger prototypes, and switchboard introductions
  • Maintain the HSE management system, statutory compliance, and all reporting obligations under the QLD WHS Act 2011, Electrical Safety Act 2002, and relevant Australian Standards

What you'll bring

  • Electrical trade qualification (Cert III in Electrotechnology or equivalent) with a current Queensland Electrical Worker's Licence — non-negotiable
  • Diploma of Work Health and Safety (BSB51319 or equivalent), or higher, plus a formal incident investigation qualification (ICAM, TapRoot, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years' hands-on safety experience in a high-energy industrial environment — DC, HV, switchboard, energy storage, EV charging, mining electrical, traction power, or comparable
  • Demonstrated ownership of a Site Electrical Safety Plan or equivalent electrical safety management system, with a track record of resolving issues physically at the workplace
  • Current QLD driver's licence, White Card, First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) including low and high-voltage rescue capability

Bonus points for

  • HV Switching Operator authorisation or substation operator background
  • Experience commissioning DC test platforms or manufacturing test rigs
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122)
  • Knowledge of AS/NZS 5139, IEC 61851, or ISO 15118
  • Experience with ISO 45001 implementation
  • AIHS, Engineers Australia, or equivalent professional membership
