Overview:

Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Safety Partner.

Position Status: Part-Time (24 hours/week), night shift (7PM-7AM)

Position Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Emergency Department

As a Safety Partner with Sentara, you will assist with the provision of a safe hospital environment conducive to individualized patient care for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm or other risk behaviors enabling patients to maintain or enhance function during the hospital stay.

Department Overview: The Norfolk General Hospital's Emergency Department is a 53-bed unit. Our Trauma One Facility is equipped to handle a variety of medical emergencies, and approximately 10% are Trauma related.

Requirements:

Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Certification/License:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required within 90 days of hire)
• De-escalation and physical intervention training (Required within 30 days of hire)

Experience:

• Prior Healthcare Experience or Enrollment in a Health Sciences Program (Preferred) - Applicants without prior experience or current health sciences program status must successfully complete a Sentara Safety Partner Training Course in addition to core competencies during orientation.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $17.82 - $25.65 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
