
TxDOT's Yoakum District is looking for an individual who has a passion for safety to help lead their safety program. The Safety Officer I, II or Ill will be based at the District Headquarters in Yokaum. This position will report to the District Engineer and performs a combination of field work, conducting safety presentations, and performing administrative tasks. Salary/Pay Grade:
Safety Officer I (B17): $42,976 - $64,469
Safety Officer II (B19): $48,244 - $76,028
Safety Officer Ill (B21): $54,278 - $87,046

Assists in overseeing a district, division or marine safety program in accordance with the Occupational Safety Division Manual or Rules and Regulations Governing Ferry Operations. Works to create an active interest in accident prevention and the safety program. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Safety , Industrial Technology, Business Admin or related discipline. R elevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Safety Officer I - None, Safety Officer II - 1 YEAR Occupational safety, Industrial hygiene or related work areas, Safety Officer Ill - 2 YEARS in Occupational safety, Industrial hygiene or other safety-related work activities.
(Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)
Licenses and Certifications Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
