Job Description

We are looking Safety Officer to support customer site and ensure that all on site operations are conducted in accordance with safety procedures, applicable regulations, and company policies.

The Safety Officer will serve as the PJO (Operational Person in Charge) at Site, ensuring full accountability for operational safety leadership and compliance.

The Safety Officer will play a key role in ensuring all site operations comply with Customer safety standards, mining regulations, and applicable HSE requirements. This position supports safe, continuous, and well-documented project expansion through effective safety supervision and PJO leadership.

This position is site-based and will be assigned to the Berau Site, East Kalimantan. Candidates must be willing to work and reside according to the company's site roster and operational requirements.

Your responsibilities

The Safety Officer will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring site activities to ensure compliance with safety standards, mining regulations, and company requirements.
  • Serving as the PJO (Operational Person in Charge), providing overall safety leadership and ensuring operational compliance.
  • Supporting HSE administration, including documentation management, incident reporting, inspections, audits, and regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Ensuring the effective implementation and continuous improvement of HSE management systems across all work areas.
  • Conducting hazard identification, risk assessments, and ensuring appropriate risk control measures are implemented and maintained.
  • Coordinating with operations personnel, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to uphold and enhance site safety standards.
  • Ensuring effective operational governance and continuity of site safety management in accordance with the responsibilities of the PJO function.
  • Monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating the effectiveness of site safety programs and initiatives.
  • Maintaining a regular presence at the site and providing direct safety supervision and support for daily operational activities.
  • Promoting a proactive safety culture through coaching, communication, and engagement with all personnel on site.

Your qualifications

Technical Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) in mining operations.
  • Knowledge of mining safety regulations and compliance reporting.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and hazard identification.
  • Experience in HSE administration and incident reporting.
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment operations and mining environments is an advantage.

Behavioral Competencies:

  • High attention to detail and strong safety discipline.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Proactive in identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Able to work in dynamic site-based environments.
  • Leadership and influencing skills for safety compliance implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Diploma (D3) or Bachelor’s degree (S1), preferably in Engineering or Occupational Safety.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skill.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in HSE/mining safety (adjustable based on needs).
  • OHS or mining safety certification is an advantage.
  • Willing to be assigned and work at the Berau Site (Lati Berau Project), East Kalimantan, following the applicable roster system.
