JOB: Safety Monitor

DUTY DAYS: 185

PAY GRADE: N03

STARTING SALARY: $113.12/day

Primary Purpose:

Provide for the safety of the students, faculty, and staff. Assist in implementing procedures that will ensure the protection of the campus personnel and property.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• High School diploma or GED
• Must be able to work well with high school age students and educators

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Demonstrate interest in and aptitude for work to be performed
• Desire and ability to work with students, parent, faculty, and staff

Experience:

• Police and/or security training or experience preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Check parking permits on cars as they enter parking lot.
2. Monitor parking lot by driving through frequently.
3. Check spaces daily to assure vehicles are in proper space.
4. Check permits each time a vehicle leaves campus.
5. Assist visitors as they enter the campus.
6. Keep students from loitering the parking lot.
7. Direct traffic in assigned lot
8. Monitor assigned area as described by daily schedule
9. Maintains proper condition of parking lot carts.
10. Wears proper parking attendant uniform.
11. Monitors campus on staff development days.
12. Reports discipline problems to the grade level principal
13. Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.

Equipment Used:

Ability to use security equipment and drive a golf cart.

Mental Demands:

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); coordinate campus support functions; maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; ability to assist in controlling sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. May be subjected to adverse and hazardous working conditions. Work outdoors in varying climate conditions.
