Safety Manager – Facilities Support Services

Location: Fort Meade, MD

Position Summary

LAUKOA is seeking a qualified Safety Manager to support facilities operations at Fort Meade, Maryland. This position is responsible for supporting the site-specific safety, health, and environmental compliance program for facilities maintenance, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, service orders, and related support activities. The selected candidate will help ensure work is performed safely and in compliance with contract requirements, EM 385-1-1, OSHA standards, applicable environmental regulations, and established safety procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support implementation and oversight of the site-specific safety, health, and environmental compliance program.
  • Assist with development, maintenance, and implementation of the Accident Prevention Plan (APP), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and related safety documentation.
  • Monitor field activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with approved safety plans, AHAs, contract requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct safety inspections, site walks, and observations of maintenance, repair, and service order activities.
  • Identify hazards, unsafe conditions, environmental concerns, and non-compliant work practices and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Support safety indoctrination, orientation, toolbox talks, and recurring safety training for site personnel.
  • Maintain safety records, training documentation, inspection reports, incident reports, and environmental compliance documentation.
  • Maintain and manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for chemicals and materials used on site.
  • Support hazardous material tracking, storage, labeling, handling, and documentation requirements.
  • Assist with environmental compliance activities related to spill prevention, spill reporting, waste handling, recycling, and proper disposal of regulated materials.
  • Coordinate with project management, site leadership, maintenance staff, subcontractors, and Government representatives on safety and environmental matters.
  • Support incident, accident, near-miss, property damage, and environmental spill reporting requirements.
  • Assist with ensuring personnel are properly trained and qualified for assigned work activities.
  • Review planned work activities for potential safety concerns, environmental impacts, required controls, and applicable permitting requirements.
  • Support compliance with applicable Federal, state, local, installation, and contract-specific safety and environmental requirements.
  • Promote a proactive safety and environmental compliance culture across the site team.
  • Comply with all environmental, safety, security, and contract requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting safety, environmental compliance, facilities maintenance, construction, operations and maintenance, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, EM 385-1-1, hazard identification, accident prevention, environmental compliance, and jobsite safety practices.
  • Experience reviewing or preparing AHAs, safety plans, inspection reports, training records, SDS documentation, and incident reports.
  • Experience supporting commercial, industrial, institutional, secure, or Government facilities preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and maintaining electronic safety, environmental, and compliance records.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of facility maintenance safety practices, hazard controls, environmental procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials handling, SDS requirements, spill response, and basic environmental compliance requirements.
  • Ability to identify unsafe conditions, environmental concerns, and compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ability to communicate safety and environmental expectations clearly to employees, subcontractors, and site leadership.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain safety documentation, environmental records, reports, logs, and training records.
  • Basic computer skills sufficient to use email, Microsoft Office, CMMS records, and project documentation systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary facilities support team.
  • Ability to support multiple work activities, priorities, and deadlines in an active facilities maintenance environment.

Security Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
  • Must comply with all site access, badge, security, and secure facility requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods while performing safety and environmental oversight duties.
  • Ability to access mechanical rooms, equipment areas, rooftops, exterior facilities, storage areas, and occupied Government work areas.
  • Ability to climb stairs, bend, kneel, and walk active work sites as needed.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry office materials, safety equipment, environmental supplies, or files consistent with the duties of the position.

Wage Rate

  • $85,000 to $130,000 depending on qualifications
