Safety Manager

📍 Location: South Boston, VA

📅 Duration: Up to 2 Years (Start: January 2027)

📋 Type: 1099 Contractor

Compensation & Schedule

💰 Pay Rate: $56/hr (Local Candidates) OR $52/hr + $140/day Per Diem (Travelers)

⏱️ Overtime: Available as project demands require

🏨 Per Diem: $140/day (Non-Local Candidates)

🎯 Completion Bonus: $150/month

💵 Pay Frequency: Weekly

⏰ Schedule: Monday-Thursday | Four 10-Hour Shifts | 40 Hours/Week

📈 Additional Schedule Details: Schedule is subject to change as project activity increases throughout the life of the project.

This long-term opportunity provides hands-on safety leadership for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical construction activities on a half-billion-dollar manufacturing expansion project.

The Safety Manager will work closely with project leadership, supervision, and craft personnel to ensure compliance with site safety requirements while supporting safe and efficient project execution.

Required Qualifications

✔ Must meet ONE of the following requirements:

✔ Bachelor's Degree in Safety or related field and 5+ years of construction experience

✔ 10+ years of full-time construction safety experience and OSHA 500 Certification

✔ CHST Certification and 5+ years of construction experience

Preferred Qualifications

⭐ Mechanical Construction Experience

⭐ HVAC Construction Experience

⭐ Plumbing Construction Experience

⭐ Industrial or Manufacturing Construction Experience

⭐ OSHA 500 Certification

⭐ CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, STSC, or Other BCSP Credential

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide daily safety oversight for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical construction activities
• Conduct toolbox talks and support daily safety communications
• Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), and work planning activities
• Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
• Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate corrective actions
• Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel
• Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation
• Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project
