Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000 / year

Key Responsibilities
What You’ll Do:
As Safety Manager, you will help lead and strengthen Group O’s safety culture by:
- Developing, coordinating, and overseeing safety training and awareness programs that support a safe, healthy, and environmentally conscious workplace.
- Providing safety training and education, including proper use of safety equipment
- Monitoring current and changing safety and health regulations to ensure compliance with applicable Federal and State requirements.
- Supporting compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, Department of Labor, and workers’ compensation requirements.
- Identifying, reducing, and helping eliminate workplace hazards, unsafe conditions, and unsafe behaviors.
- Investigating injuries and near misses, identifying root causes, and recommending steps to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinating Right-To-Know programs related to hazardous chemicals and other substances.
- Maintaining required safety and health records, including OSHA 300 Logs.
- Preparing reports, charts, and analysis to support risk assessment and safety planning.
- Developing strategic safety plans to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Managing workers’ compensation claims communication with employees, managers, insurance carriers, medical personnel, and legal partners.
- Developing and managing early Return to Work programs.
- Supporting hygiene programs such as noise surveys, personal exposure monitoring, and ventilation surveys.
- Responding to customer surveys and questionnaires related to quality certifications.
- Managing the annual safety budget.
- Daily travel to various work settings inside the IL Quad Cities in addition to occasional travel to our locations in IN, PA, and TX.
Who You Are:
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Strong technical knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Extensive skill, knowledge, and experience with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- Experience developing safety and health programs, policies, and prevention strategies.
- Experience analyzing accident types, frequency, and severity to help develop prevention programs.
- Strong risk assessment, problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives at the same time.
- Strong people skills, including the ability to motivate others and work effectively in teams.
- Adaptability, ethical conduct, and the ability to lead safety initiatives across changing environments.
Job Qualifications
What You Need:
Required or strongly preferred qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a related science degree, or equivalent work experience.
- Five or more years’ experience as a Safety Manager, or related role.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- Experience maintaining OSHA 300 Log records.
- Environmental Health and Safety program development and implementation.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience managing workman compensation claims.
- Experience in a manufacturing or warehousing environment.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Basic First Aid and CPR training.
- OSHA 10-Hour training.
- Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and HRMS.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
This role may require:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
