The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's Safety, Health, Risk, Environmental and Quality (SHREQ) Management System The role focuses on promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing risks, conducting audits and investigations, and continuously improving workplace safety performance.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety, health, risk, environmental, and quality management systems.
- Promote a strong safety culture and employee safety awareness across the organization.
- Identify hazards, assess risks, and implement appropriate preventive and corrective actions.
- Conduct and coordinate internal and external safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Monitor and report safety performance, KPIs, incidents, and corrective actions to management.
- Lead or participate in accident and incident investigations and ensure proper follow-up.
- Develop and review safety policies, procedures, training programs, and emergency response plans.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety legislation, regulatory requirements, and relevant standards.
- Monitor operational activities to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Manage employee safety training, medical standards, drug and alcohol management, and fatigue management programs.
- Coordinate injury management and workplace safety initiatives.
- Work closely with management and operational teams to identify safety improvements and maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Main Requirements
Education & Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Relevant safety certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, CSP, CIH, or equivalent are an advantage.
- Additional safety-related training or investigation qualifications are preferred.
Professional Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in safety management or a related role.
- Experience in transport, construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, or other relevant industries
- Proven experience implementing safety programs, policies, and management systems.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety legislation.
- Experience in incident investigation, reporting, risk assessment, and hazard identification.
- Experience with ISO standards and safety auditing is preferred.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Strong knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and risk management.
- Ability to conduct safety audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
- Strong emergency response and crisis management skills.
