Job Description

Industry:  Transportation & Storage

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's Safety, Health, Risk, Environmental and Quality (SHREQ) Management System The role focuses on promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing risks, conducting audits and investigations, and continuously improving workplace safety performance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety, health, risk, environmental, and quality management systems.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and employee safety awareness across the organization.
  • Identify hazards, assess risks, and implement appropriate preventive and corrective actions.
  • Conduct and coordinate internal and external safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Monitor and report safety performance, KPIs, incidents, and corrective actions to management.
  • Lead or participate in accident and incident investigations and ensure proper follow-up.
  • Develop and review safety policies, procedures, training programs, and emergency response plans.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety legislation, regulatory requirements, and relevant standards.
  • Monitor operational activities to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Manage employee safety training, medical standards, drug and alcohol management, and fatigue management programs.
  • Coordinate injury management and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Work closely with management and operational teams to identify safety improvements and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Main Requirements

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Relevant safety certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, CSP, CIH, or equivalent are an advantage.
  • Additional safety-related training or investigation qualifications are preferred.

Professional Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in safety management or a related role.
  • Experience in transport, construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, or other relevant industries
  • Proven experience implementing safety programs, policies, and management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety legislation.
  • Experience in incident investigation, reporting, risk assessment, and hazard identification.
  • Experience with ISO standards and safety auditing is preferred.

Technical & Soft Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and risk management.
  • Ability to conduct safety audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
  • Strong emergency response and crisis management skills.
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to train and educate employees on safety practices.
  • Strong commitment to promoting a positive safety culture.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and travel when required.
