Job Description
Abacus is looking to hire a Safety Manager in the Louisville, KY area.
The Safety Manager will oversee and enforce compliance with safety and health regulations, lead safety and environmental committees, and provide training for warehouse associates. They will also investigate incidents, maintain records, conduct safety drills, and develop an Environmental Management System. The candidate must address safety risks, ensure OSHA compliance, conduct safety training, and perform safety assessments and audits.
- Implement and maintain compliance to the requirements of US Safety and Health Manual
- Lead a “Safety and Environmental committee” within the branch to regularly review and perform maintenance activities to the local Safety and Health system.
- Provide and ensure Safety and Health Training for all employees (Awareness, Hazard Certifications.)
- Investigate and report on all incidences relating to injuries, property damage and near misses.
- Maintain organized Injury Management records for OSHA reporting.
- Ensure weekly / monthly safety inspections are performed and findings are documented and follow up conducted.
- Perform annual Safety Drills (Evacuation, Seek-shelter)
- Hold annual Spill Drills
- ·Maintain and provide results from local stop card program.
- Provide management with QSHE documentation relating to new hires and new hire orientation training.
- Develop, establish, and implement a local Environmental Management System (EMS) within the branch as required by the US Environmental Management System Policy Manual
- Lead an “Environmental Team” within the branch to regularly review and perform maintenance activities to the local EMS.
- Discuss, document, and implement Environmental Aspects, Objectives, Targets for the branch.
- Provide backup documentation to support each Aspect with attention to all legal requirements.
- Provide tools and equipment needed to support Aspects (recycle bins, lighting systems, substitution programs)
- Ensure all employees receive EMS training (global and local)
The candidate will be expected to:
- Proactively address safety risks and implement immediate resolution.
- Ensure that the site remains compliant with all OSHA regulations and reporting protocols.
- Facilitate safety training for new hires and refresher training for all associates.
- Complete safety assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Use sound judgment and keen decision-making skills.
- Conduct accident and incident investigations following all compliance protocols.
- Additional duties deemed appropriate for this role.
