We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Safety Manager to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company-wide safety programs. This role is ideal for a builder—someone who can create, develop, and scale safety initiatives from the ground up while partnering with operational leaders across multiple locations.
The Safety Manager will spend the majority of their time traveling to field locations, conducting safety assessments, coaching leaders, identifying risks, developing corrective action plans, and driving a culture of safety throughout the organization. This individual must be comfortable creating processes, policies, training programs, and accountability systems rather than simply maintaining existing programs.
Lead the continuous improvement of the company's safety programs, policies, and practices across all locations.
Travel extensively to branches and field operations to assess safety performance, identify risks, and drive improvement initiatives.
Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
Partner with operational leaders to strengthen safety accountability and integrate best practices into daily operations.
Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Develop and deliver safety training, both in the field and at Phoenix Academy, that increases employee engagement and reinforces a strong safety culture.
Monitor safety metrics and trends, providing recommendations that reduce risk and improve performance.
Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders on safety-related matters and operational risk management.
Champion a proactive safety culture focused on prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Demonstrated leadership experience in safety, operations, compliance, risk management, or related functions within field, branch, warehouse, transportation, manufacturing, construction, service, or other multi-site environments.
Proven ability to improve performance, reduce risk, drive continuous improvement, and influence positive cultural change through effective coaching, communication, and relationship-building.
Working knowledge of safety regulations, compliance requirements, audits, inspections, investigations, and corrective action processes, with the ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
Strong analytical skills with experience using data, trends, and performance metrics to identify opportunities and drive business and safety outcomes.
Ability and willingness to travel extensively (60–80%) to support field operations and organizational objectives.
Continuous Improvement Mindset – Constantly seeks opportunities to strengthen safety programs, reduce risk, and improve outcomes across the organization.
Influential Leadership – Builds trust and credibility with employees and leaders, driving accountability and safe behaviors through coaching and partnership.
Field & Operational Focus – Enjoys being in the field, understanding operational challenges, and developing practical solutions that support both safety and business objectives.
Data-Driven Problem Solver – Uses safety metrics, injury trends, and fleet performance data to identify risks, prioritize actions, and measure success.
Collaborative & Results-Oriented – Works effectively with Operations, HR, and the Workers' Compensation Administrator to implement sustainable improvements that reduce incidents and strengthen safety culture.
We recognize that strong candidates may not meet every qualification listed above. Employees with relevant leadership experience, operational knowledge, and a demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement are encouraged to apply.
