Job Description

The Safety Lead is responsible for leading and driving all occupational health and safety, fire safety, environmental protection, and health-related activities at the Szarvas seed processing facility.

This role ensures full compliance with Hungarian legislation and Corteva standards, while providing strategic direction and hands-on leadership across both plant and field operations. The position plays a key leadership role in strengthening safety culture, fostering accountability, and driving continuous improvement across the site.

Main responsibilities:

  • Corteva EHS Standards (35%)
    Lead the implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of Corteva occupational safety standards and programs. Ensure alignment with corporate strategy and drive consistency across all site activities.
  • Operational Safety Leadership (25%)
    Oversee safety assessments of operational technologies and work processes. Ensure strong field presence through the team, guiding risk identification, root cause analysis, and implementation of sustainable corrective actions in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Strategy, Training & Capability Building (15%)
    Define and deploy the site’s safety training strategy. Oversee the development, localization, and delivery of training programs to build organizational capability and reinforce a proactive safety culture.
  • Team Leadership & Organizational Support (10%)
    Lead and develop the local EHS team. Provide expert guidance to site leadership and ensure effective integration of safety priorities into operational decision-making.
  • Safety Culture & Employee Engagement (8%)
    Champion a strong safety culture by coaching leaders and engaging employees at all levels. Drive initiatives that promote ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement in safety performance.
  • External & Regional Collaboration (5%)
    Represent the site in interactions with authorities, external partners, and regional EHS leadership. Ensure alignment with regional priorities and leverage best practices across the network.
  • KPI & Performance Management (2%)
    Own safety performance tracking and reporting. Analyze trends, identify improvement opportunities, and communicate insights to drive data-based decision-making.

Location:

  • Szarvas Seed Processing Facility, Hungary

Requirements:

  • Higher education degree (college or university) in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Agriculture, or related field
  • Advanced occupational safety qualification (Safety Engineer or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in occupational safety, including leadership responsibility
  • Experience in a multinational, matrix organization
  • Proven leadership and team development capabilities
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Solid computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Fluent English (spoken and written)
