We’re launching our largest Supply Chain site in Redbank, Queensland - a major investment in scale, innovation, and the future of our retail network. This is a rare opportunity to join and help bring a large‑scale operation to life from the ground up.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Safety Lead to help foster and maintain a strong, positive safety culture within our brand new soon-to-be-completed QLD facility.

This site‑based role plays a critical part in supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of our people through visible leadership, proactive risk management and continuous improvement. Responsible for ensuring the effective implementation, oversight and ongoing monitoring of Officeworks’ safety standards, systems and compliance requirements at site level, this opportunity is open to both internal and external candidates who are ready to make a meaningful impact on safety outcomes in a dynamic state-of-the-art supply chain environment.

About the Role

The Safety Lead is a key safety advocate on site, working closely with Distribution Centre leadership, operations teams, contractors and the National Safety Team.

A strong focus of the role is coordinating and delivering safety training and capability development, building safety awareness and competence, and embedding safe behaviours and practices across the site.

Key Responsibilities

Contractor & Project Safety

  • Manage contractor and visitor inductions in line with safety policies, procedures and permit‑to‑work systems
  • Manage site access and ensure all personnel understand site safety and work requirements
  • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors and supervisors to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently and on time
  • Support project delivery teams by ensuring site conditions are suitable for planned works

Safety Leadership & Culture

  • Provide visible safety leadership and foster a strong safety‑first culture
  • Lead Stay Safe meetings and actively contribute to site safety discussions
  • Provide advice, coaching and support to Distribution Centre operations teams
  • Champion continuous improvement and proactive risk management

Safety Systems, Compliance & Risk

  • Implement and monitor national Health & Safety policies, procedures and site emergency plans
  • Investigate and follow up on all incidents, hazards and injuries using the online incident reporting system
  • Support Process Compliance audits in collaboration with the DC team
  • Support internal and external regulator audit programs alongside the National Safety Team
  • Support the development and updating of Safe Work Procedures (SWPs)

Training & Capability Development

  • Coordinate and support onsite safety training as required
  • Schedule and facilitate toolbox talks, pre‑start meetings and safety briefings
  • Ensure all team members have access to relevant, current safety documentation

Governance & Injury Management

  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, incident records and compliance checklists
  • Manage WorkCover claims and return‑to‑work plans in partnership with the Injury Management Advisor
  • Ensure appropriate protocols are followed for process changes, with stakeholder engagement and approvals
  • Contribute to the Supply Chain of Responsibility (CoR) strategy
  • Support the implementation of national safety strategies and safety‑related projects

About you

You are a proactive safety professional with strong operational experience and a genuine passion for keeping people safe. You’re confident working in fast‑paced environments and engaging a wide range of stakeholders to deliver practical, compliant safety outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety (WHS) or a related discipline
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • HLTAID003 – Provide First Aid (current or willingness to obtain)
  • 2+ years’ experience in a Supply Chain environment within retail, logistics or manufacturing, ideally in medium to large organisations
  • Experience leading or supporting WHS audits and compliance activities
  • Experience in injury management, risk management and contractor safety
  • Background in OHS, HR or a similar safety‑focused role highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining safety systems, SWPs and standard work practices

  • Sound working knowledge of WHS legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Organised, confident and solutions‑focused approach
  • A genuine passion for workplace safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement
