Job Description

Job Expectations

Build your career and Australia’s future.

Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.

A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for a Safety and Wellbeing Consultant, ACT reporting to Executive Manager Safety and Wellbeing

A bit about your role

As a Safety & Wellbeing Consultant, you will play a trusted advisory role, partnering with operational business units to strengthen safety accountability, wellbeing outcomes, and operational ownership across nbn. Acting as a key point of contact for field-facing teams, you will provide specialist guidance on hazard management, critical risk controls, safe work practices, and legislative requirements, helping to build a proactive and mature safety culture.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with leaders and frontline teams to identify emerging risks, support continuous improvement initiatives, and embed new processes and ways of working. You will coach and influence stakeholders to effectively manage safety and wellbeing risks, support assurance activities and campaigns, and contribute to investigations of incidents, hazards, and breaches. Through your expertise, you will help create safe, healthy, and sustainable outcomes for our people while supporting the successful delivery of nbn’s operational objectives. This is a field-based role with regular intrastate and occasional interstate travel.

A bit about you

You are a collaborative and pragmatic safety professional who is passionate about creating environments where people can thrive safely and confidently. With experience in telecommunications, construction, or a similarly complex operational environment, you bring strong technical knowledge combined with the ability to build trusted relationships and positively influence stakeholders at all levels, from frontline workers through to senior leaders.

You will likely hold a Cert IV in WHS (or equivalent) and demonstrated experience in a specialist safety and wellbeing role. Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment, you are highly organised, able to manage competing priorities, and confident working autonomously. Your approachable style, sound judgement, and commitment to continuous improvement will enable you to support meaningful safety and wellbeing outcomes while contributing to a culture of care, accountability, and operational excellence across nbn.

Application Process

You may find that your experience does not match every requirement listed but, if this role has piqued your interest or resonates with where you are in your career, we encourage you to apply rather than self-select out. We are interested in transferable skills and your skills and perspective could be exactly what we would value to strengthen our team.
