Job Description

Role Purpose

Plant Safety Engineer is responsible for supporting and continuously improving the plant wide safety, health, and environmental management systems. The role ensures compliance with applicable regulations, company standards, and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements. The position works closely with cross-functional and cross-site teams both Taichung and Tainan to manage risks, prevent incidents, improve SHE performance, and promote a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain and continuously improve the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  2. Monitor environmental and occupational safety and health regulations and coordinate compliance actions.
  3. Manage environmental monitoring and regulatory reporting related to wastewater, air emissions, waste, and other environmental matters.
  4. Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and Management of Change reviews.
  5. Perform workplace SHE inspections and audits and follow up on corrective actions.
  6. Manage contractor safety documentation and on-site activities.
  7. Participate in or lead incident and near-miss investigations and track preventive actions.
  8. Develop and deliver SHE training for employees and contractors.
  9. Support emergency response planning and drills.
  10. Participate in relevant subcommittee meetings as a SHE expert and support the implementation of improvement actions.
  11. Prepare SHE management reports and regulatory submissions.
  12. Collaborate with Corporate, Division, and Taichung/ Tainan site teams on SHE programs and provide cross-site support when required.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and above in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Occupational safety, occupational hygiene, or other relevant SHE professional certifications.
  • Relevant experience in environmental management or occupational safety and health; manufacturing SHE experience is preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of environmental regulations, occupational safety and health requirements, and workplace risk management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin.
  • Working-level English reading and writing skills, with the ability to participate in basic workplace communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and willingness to support other facilities within Taiwan when required.
  • Candidates without relevant professional certifications must be willing to complete required training and obtain certifications applicable to the position.
  • Three or more years of experience in SHE, EHS, environmental engineering, occupational safety, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications related to air pollution control, wastewater treatment, waste management, or other environmental disciplines.
  • Experience in maintaining or auditing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Experience in contractor safety management, risk assessment, Management of Change, or incident investigation.
  • Experience in greenhouse gas inventories, carbon footprint verification, or life cycle assessment.
  • English proficiency equivalent to TOEIC 550 or above.
  • Experience working on cross-functional, cross-site, or regional projects.
