Blade is focused on efforts to assist the aviation industry in order to accelerate its transition from conventional aircraft to quieter, cleaner Electric Vertical Aircraft (“EVA”), expand new air mobility routes, grow our network of captive passenger infrastructure, and continue to develop our consumer-to-cockpit technology stack.

Joby Aviation is seeking an Aviation Safety Coordinator to support BLADE Aviation Mobility safety programs and conduct audits for our helicopter, seaplane, and jet operators. Partnering with the Safety team, Operations leadership, and operators, this role will support audits and day-to-day safety matters across our contracted networks. This position ensures that Blade’s operations remain at the forefront of aviation safety and regulatory compliance.

This is a temporary, full-time position with the potential of moving to permanent after 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between the Safety team, Operations leadership, and operators to coordinate safety initiatives and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Support annual and follow-up safety audits of contracted operators, documenting findings and preparing audit reports.
  • Support safety data analysis
  • Support ground operations safety training and audits of BLADE operations
  • Assist in monitoring contractor compliance with FAA regulatory requirements and corporate safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Safety, Aviation Management, Aerospace, or related field, or equivalent operational experience.
  • 2 years of practical working experience in aviation safety or quality
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations (14 CFR Part 135 preferred).
  • Ability to travel to operators throughout the BLADE network

Desired

  • Experience with operator Safety Management Systems (SMS). Experience supporting helicopter or seaplane operations.
  • 2 years of aviation safety auditing experience for operators.
  • Familiarity with ARGUS, IS-BAO, or aviation safety audit frameworks.
  • Experience working with contracted aviation operators.

Additional Information

This is a temporary role, anticipated to last up to 6 months with the potential to go full-time. The target base pay for this position is $76,800-$115,000/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
