The Field Health & Safety Coordinator – Construction supports safe field operations across Ontario by implementing and monitoring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WSIB, and company safety standards. This role provides on-site and remote support to field crews, ensuring that all safety programs are effectively executed and continuously improved.

The coordinator works collaboratively with site supervisors and project managers to identify risks, deliver training, conduct inspections, and drive proactive safety performance. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to building a positive, prevention-focused safety culture. Travel is limited and typically local.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Guide the business to take all precautions reasonable for the protection of the worker.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture with emphasis on the internal responsibility system (IRS).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental health and safety legislation.
  • Coach all levels of the organization to implement health and safety process into daily activities.
  • Conduct regular planned inspections of a manufacturing facility, office setting, emergency lighting system, fire extinguishers, machine guarding systems, first aid kits, and light curtain systems.
  • Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee as the certified management member.
  • Act as emergency preparedness coordinator.
  • Lead incident investigation teams to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Facilitate weekly safety meetings aimed at promoting safety awareness and enhancing organizational culture.
  • Assist with the creation of health and safety policies and procedures including standard operating procedures, work instructions, and job hazard analysis.
  • Monitor subcontractor documentation and visitor orientation program.
  • Identify training requirements and oversee associated record-keeping.
  • Utilize Velocity EHS and Procore management software.
  • Continuously monitor hazardous health and safety conditions and ensure identified hazards are mitigated or eliminated.
  • Ensure all new manufacturing employees have completed new hire health and safety onboarding.

Position Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in related field and/or relevant work experience.
  • 1-year prior Health and Safety and/or Compliance experience.
  • 3 years prior Construction experience preferred.
  • Ontario JHSC Certification preferred.
  • Understanding of OHSA, WSIB, and relevant construction safety standards.
  • Experience in EHS software such as VelocityEHS and Procore preferred.
  • Ability to travel to and from local job sites during work hours on a regular basis.
