Job Description

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Safety Coordinator who will assist with the implementation and administration of Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety Program on the project site. This role supports ensuring a safe work environment by engaging craft work crews to identify risks, plan hazard‑mitigation strategies, verify the availability of tools and equipment required for safe work execution, and reinforce our proactive culture of care

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist crew members with completing daily paperwork, including but not limited to, pre-task planning cards (PTPC’s), standard work instructions (SWI’s), dig permits, hot work permits, trench inspections, rigging inspections, operator certifications, and vehicle/equipment inspections

· Complete and document job site safety audits

· Produce and maintain running inventory of PPE and assist with issuing and distributing to work crews

· Audit and assist with management of safety-related provisions including but not limited to spill kits, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, barricades, chemical labeling & SDS, safety signage and more

· Assist with waste disposal coordination and inventory of hazardous chemicals on-site

· Immediately engage front line supervisors and work crews to correct identified hazards. Directly intervene with stop-work authority when appropriate

· Assist with conducting site-specific trainings, including but not limited to, First Day/First Hour orientations and safety trainings as needed

· Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson company policies to employees and outside parties, including business partners and customers

QUALIFICATIONS

· High school diploma or GED equivalent

· Minimum 3 years industry trade experience, 1 year of Mortenson tenure required

· OSHA 30-Hour - Construction Training

· Current valid driver’s license

· Strong teamwork orientation and ability to problem solve

· Strong organization skills and attention to detail

· Speaking to and presenting in front of large groups of people

· Effectively to use an electronic tablet (Apple iPad) to complete daily electronic reports

· Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson company policies to employees and outside parties, including business partners and customers

· Familiarity with Microsoft 365

· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally

· Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and

feedback

· Motivated to seek out additional coaching opportunities and ability to effectively apply learned

information and skills.

The base pay range for this role is $59,300 MIN - $80,000 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
