Job Title: Safety Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY
The Safety Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring job site safety compliance while promoting a strong company-wide safety culture. This position conducts site safety inspections, equipment and vehicle checks, training, and incident investigations to ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and General Contractor (GC) safety standards. The Safety Coordinator collaborates closely with the Safety Administrator and Senior Safety Coordinator to ensure all worksites, employees, and projects adhere to regulatory and company-specific safety policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Site Safety Inspections & Compliance
- Conduct routine and unannounced safety inspections at project sites to ensure compliance with:
- - OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and other safety regulations.
- - General Contractor (GC) safety requirements and site-specific safety plans.
- - Company safety policies and procedures.
- Inspect worksites, personnel, PPE usage, and equipment for proper compliance.
- Document violations, implement corrective actions, and provide on-the-spot safety training as needed.
- Maintain detailed safety inspection reports, violations, and corrective actions.
Equipment & Vehicle Inspections
- Perform scheduled and ad-hoc inspections of company-owned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Inspect Personal Fall Arrest Systems (PFAS), PPE, confined space monitors, ladders, power tools, and extension cords.
- Ensure that defective equipment is removed, tagged, and repaired promptly.
Safety Training & Education
- Assist in developing and conducting safety training programs, including:
- - New hire orientation and job-specific safety training.
- - Annual refresher courses and on-site safety training.
- - Equipment training and all other required training accordingly.
- Maintain training records and ensure compliance with the required certifications.
Compliance with General Contractor & Regulatory Safety Requirements
- Ensure compliance with General Contractor safety policies:
- - Site-specific safety orientations
- - Required safety documentation, permits, and hazard communication protocols
- Act as a liaison between field employees and GC safety representatives.
Incident Response & Investigation
- Respond immediately to jobsite incidents and assist in emergency procedures.
- Conduct fact-gathering and root cause analysis for accidents, injuries, and near-misses.
- Assist in formal incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Accompany injured employees to medical facilities when required.
- Organize safety stand-downs when necessary to prevent recurrence.
Crane Operations & Heavy Equipment Safety Oversight
- Attend all scheduled crane operations, verifying compliance with safety requirements.
- Ensure all site personnel have proper crane-related training and documentation.
- Conduct crane operation inspections and documentation audits.
Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities
- Maintain organized safety documentation, including:
- - Jobsite safety audits and reports
- - Incident reports and near-miss investigations
- - Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS) compliance
- Ensure timely completion and submission of all safety-related documentation.
Additional Responsibilities as Needed
- Deliver safety equipment to job sites or employees as necessary.
- Be available during off-hours, weekends, and emergencies.
- Travel as required for training, inspections, and project oversight.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
- Education: High School Diploma/GED required.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a safety role within construction, plumbing, or mechanical contracting.
- Language: Spanish recommended.
- Certifications: OSHA 30 certification required (OSHA 500 preferred).
- Must successfully complete the HR onboarding process and Safety Orientation training independently.
- Must be able to understand, communicate, and follow safety instructions in English (reasonable accommodations provided as per applicable laws).
- The position requires moderate travel, which may include overnight travel (must be able to travel internationally for business needs).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Prezi).
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and handle high-stress situations.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and hazard recognition.
