px Americas is a leading provider of commissioning, start-up and operations-readiness services for LNG assets and energy sectors across North America and beyond. As we expand our footprint into the Bahamas we are recruiting for a Safety Coordinator.

Reporting to the Operations & Maintenance Coordinator, the Safety Coordinator provides day-based safety leadership and operational assurance to support safe, reliable terminal operations within defined operating envelopes. The role acts as the site focal point for occupational safety, process safety, permit to work assurance, incident learning, and workforce safety coaching, helping maintain strong operational discipline and safe execution of site activities.

As an operator-derived role, the position combines practical operational experience with visible field safety leadership while maintaining the capability to support operational backfill where required, ensuring safety oversight remains grounded in day-to-day plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day safety leadership and operational safety assurance to support safe, reliable, and efficient terminal operations within defined operating envelopes
  • Act as the primary site focal point for permit to work assurance, occupational safety, process safety, and safe execution of operational and maintenance activities
  • Support effective risk management through field verification, hazard identification, worksite monitoring, and intervention where unsafe conditions or behaviours are identified
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and technical support functions to ensure work is executed in accordance with site safety standards and approved procedures
  • Maintain visible field safety presence through inspections, audits, workforce engagement, and practical coaching to reinforce safe behaviours and operational discipline
  • Support incident reporting, investigation, corrective action implementation, and continuous improvement of site safety performance
  • Interface with corporate safety functions to support standards implementation, reporting, audit activities, and organisational learning
  • Maintain operational competency and provide operator support, including shift backfill coverage where required
  • Review, verify, and monitor permit to work, isolations, risk assessments, and worksite safety controls for operational and maintenance activities
  • Conduct routine field safety inspections, worksite verifications, behavioural observations, and compliance audits to confirm adherence to site procedures and safety standards
  • Support risk assessments, job safety reviews, hazard identification, and safe coordination of simultaneous operational and maintenance activities
  • Participate in incident response, investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, and capture of lessons learned
  • Deliver practical safety coaching, workforce engagement, and day-to-day guidance to operators, maintenance personnel, contractors, and site teams
  • Maintain safety records, inspection findings, audit actions, incident documentation, and compliance reporting requirements
  • Support emergency response readiness and participate in designated emergency response activities in accordance with site requirements
  • Provide operational support to shift teams, including operator backfill coverage and practical field support where required

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 5-8 years’ experience in industrial operations within LNG, oil & gas, or petrochemical.
  • Demonstrated operational experience working within permit to work, isolation, and safe system of work frameworks
  • Practical understanding of process safety, occupational safety, hazard identification, and incident reporting requirements
  • Experience supporting plant operations, abnormal operating response, and coordination of operational activities in a live industrial environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence safe behaviours and support frontline teams
  • Ability to maintain operational competency and provide shift operational support where required

Desirable

  • Experience in LNG terminal operations or comparable gas processing / energy infrastructure facilities
  • Experience supporting safety coordination, permit to work assurance, incident investigation, or operational compliance activities
  • Emergency response team participation or incident management experience
  • Experience working with contractors, maintenance teams, and multi-discipline operational interfaces

Additional information

  • Work schedule: Days with potential of Shift work for extended periods of time Flexibility to support project startup and operational support.
  • Travel required for training, audits, and stakeholder meetings as necessary.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the Bahamas or willing to relocate with employer-sponsored permits.
