Under direct supervision of the Workplace Safety Manager, this position will support Pittsburgh Water’s health and safety programs at water production facilities, field sites, and administrative buildings. The incumbent will review, evaluate, and analyze work environment hazards and risks, and provide program support to control, eliminate, and prevent injuries caused by chemical, physical, ergonomic and human factors.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must present a current, valid Class C (Class 1) Motor Vehicle Operator’s License at the time of application or prior to appointment. A valid driver’s license must be maintained throughout employment.
Applicant must have permanent residency within one of the following Pennsylvania counties at the time of appointment and remain a resident within one of the noted counties throughout employment with the Pittsburgh Water: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Lawrence, Indiana, Washington, or Westmoreland.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand and fingers, reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, and smell. Frequently walking, climbing stairs, finger movements including fine dexterity and coordination, hearing conversation, seeing near and far, and speaking clearly. Frequently bending, stooping, repetitive leg and arm movements, lifting up to 25 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to climb and balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a moderate or quiet noise level in the office work environment. The employee will frequently travel to different sites to perform duties. May perform work outdoors under extreme weather. The employee may be exposed to confined, high spaces, like erect scaffolding; loud conditions with vibrations, traffic, mechanical, chemical, fire, and explosive risks; and odors, dusts, fumes, mists, poor ventilation, and gases which may require a respirator. Subject to remain on duty beyond normal hours or recalled during emergency situations or other extensive periods.
MEDICAL EXAMINATION
Employment may be contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) physical examination performed by the Authority's examining physician.
DRUG TESTING
Employment may be contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) drug screening. Continued employment may be subject to randomized drug and alcohol testing conducted without advance notice and for reasonable suspicion.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION
Ability to successfully pass a thorough investigation consisting of a criminal history check, verification of prior employment and performance, reference, and credentials checks, and in some cases credit history.
