Collins Aerospace is seeking a Safety and Reliability Engineer to join our Power & Controls Engineering team, supporting the development of advanced aerospace systems.
In this role, you’ll lead safety and reliability analyses, define key requirements, and ensure designs meet rigorous certification standards. Your work will directly influence the performance, safety, and success of mission-critical systems.

What You Will Do
Perform safety assessments in accordance with ARP4761 or MIL-STD-882E, including:
System Safety Program Plans (SSPP)
Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA)
Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA)
System Safety Assessments (SSA)
Fault Tree Analyses (FTA)
Common Mode Analyses (CMA)
Review, assess, and influence designs to optimize safety-related metrics and ensure all certification requirements are met
Perform reliability assessments in accordance with industry-accepted practices, including:
Reliability Program Plans (RPP)
Reliability predictions (MTBF and component failure rates) using industry standards and field data where applicable
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
Define Safety and Reliability design requirements derived from customer specifications and develop associated assessment artifacts
Perform maintainability assessments and support testability analyses
Support and/or lead reliability testing (HALT and RET), including procedure development, test execution oversight, failure review boards, and corrective actions
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance analysis and documentation quality and efficiency
Support system integration activities and participate in internal and external design reviews
Contribute to bid and proposal efforts for future programs, as required
Travel up to 10% (domestic and Canada)
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience in Safety and Reliability engineering, including processes and tools aligned with SAE ARP4754, ARP4761, or MIL-STD-882
Strong analytical skills in analog and digital circuit design and/or mechanical design
Proven ability to prepare and present technical information to peers, management, and external customers
Working knowledge of aircraft and/or electronic systems preferred
Proficiency with standard tools such as MS Excel, Word, and Access
Experience with FaultTree+ or similar fault tree analysis tools

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
