Job Description

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the daily operations of the Loss Control team, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
  • Reviews comprehensive risk assessments to verify underwriting decisions.
  • Identifies potential risk exposures and formulates strategic recommendations to mitigate identified risks.
  • Coordinates the design and implementation of loss prevention programs tailored to client-specific needs.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to clients on safety practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversees the effectiveness of loss control measures and implements strategic adjustments to enhance outcomes as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Safety Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.

Experience: Generally, a minimum of 5 years of experience in loss control, risk management, or a related field within the property and casualty insurance industry. Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), Certified Safety and Health Management (CSHMS), Associate Loss Control Management (ALCM) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST).

Scope of Job/Qualifications: Typically manages 2 or more reports. Responsible for overseeing team priorities and coordinating daily tasks. May occasionally perform tasks alongside direct reports. Operates under policies and procedures with limited oversight. Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and has a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management. Provides training to new members of the team. Exhibits strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to analyze situations, identify problems, and develop effective solutions. Ensures the team is knowledgeable of loss control policies and procedures and remains informed on industry laws and regulations.
