About the team

Our Group Safety & Insurance team plays a vital role in helping Sainsbury’s and Argos understand, manage and reduce safety risk across our business. Working closely with colleagues across Safety, Retail, Logistics, Argos, FM, Property, Tech and external system partners, the team uses data, reporting and insight to support safer operations and better decision-making.

This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative team where your analysis will help leaders spot emerging risks, understand performance and prioritise the interventions that can make the biggest difference for colleagues and customers.

More about the role

As Safety Analyst, you’ll turn safety data into accurate, timely and meaningful insight. You’ll produce and maintain KPI reports, dashboards, risk maps and management information for operational and governance audiences, helping leaders measure performance, identify trends and take evidence-based action.

Day to day, you’ll analyse incidents, enforcement, audit, assurance, compliance and colleague safety data to highlight recurring issues, emerging risks and opportunities for targeted intervention. You’ll also support SIMS, Safety Assist and related reporting processes, contribute to dashboard and automation improvements, prepare governance packs, track actions and provide clear performance updates for leadership forums including the Group Safety Committee.

More about you

You’ll be someone who enjoys working with data and is comfortable turning complex information into clear messages, recommendations and practical next steps. You’ll bring curiosity, attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in making reporting simpler, more consistent and more insightful.

You’ll be confident working with a range of stakeholders, asking the right questions and constructively challenging where needed to improve data quality, reporting accuracy and understanding of risk. You’ll be organised enough to manage regular reporting cycles alongside ad hoc requests, and able to communicate insight in a way that works for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable experience of analysing complex data sets and translating findings into clear insight, reports or recommendations.
  • Proven ability to produce, maintain or improve KPI reports, dashboards, management information or equivalent performance reporting.
  • Evidence of interpreting incident, audit, assurance, compliance, operational risk or comparable data to identify trends, recurring issues or priority risks.
  • Practical experience of maintaining data quality, completing checks or resolving data issues with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including through written updates, packs or presentations.
