Job Description

A major energy infrastructure project in Cork is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to support delivery of a high-risk demolition and decommissioning project at a constrained urban site. The client is a semi-state body.

This position will work closely with the client's safety and engineering specialists, project management teams and contractors to drive client-side safety assurance throughout the works.

Additional Information

• Based full-time onsite at Marina, Cork
• Anticipated start mid to end June 2026
• 7-month contract duration
• Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day
• PPE and current SafePass and manual handling training required

Responsibilities

• Support the Client Site Manager through visible safety presence and day-to-day site engagement
• Provide client-side monitoring and assurance of contractor compliance with health, safety, asbestos and environmental legislation
• Liaise with the asbestos team and asbestos consultant and support coordination of site attendance
• Monitor contractor compliance with environmental and waste management legislation, including segregation, storage and disposal practices
• Review contractor method statements, risk assessments and permits for high-risk activities
• Collaborate with Health, Safety and Environmental teams to facilitate audits and assessments of contractor compliance
• Support and participate in site inspections, audits, safety walks and close-out of actions
• Provide regular feedback to the Site Manager and Project Manager on safety performance, trends and emerging risks
• Support learning from incidents, near misses and good catches, focusing on prevention and continuous improvement

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years' Health & Safety experience within construction on large-scale projects
• Knowledge of asbestos management and asbestos removal in line with current regulations
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, codes of practice and standards
• Strong communication, influencing, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work on own initiative in a dynamic site environment
• Level 7 qualification in Health & Safety

Desirable

• Experience working on demolition projects
• Experience of contractor safety assurance on behalf of a client organisation
• Level 8 qualification in Health & Safety
• Engineering or project management experience
• BOHS 405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings
