Overview
CVP seeks an experienced SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) to work with an Agile Release Train and maintain oversight and delivery of the team’s backlog. Candidates must demonstrate a track record of managing ARTs and deploying solutions within a complex, matrix environment using Scaled Agile methodologies, across an Integrated Project Team (IPT).
The professional in this role must be a results-oriented individual with a very strong work ethic and must be able to demonstrate excellent IT Project Management, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills. The RTE will be responsible for working with varied stakeholders to execute project requirements and meet stakeholder expectations. The RTE will facilitate Planning Interval (PI) events, coordinate across multiple product and delivery teams, and maintain accurate information within specified reporting tools.This professional will work with Program's SAFe Execution Lead and other stakeholders to complete implementation of the system on time and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the RTE for the Agile Release Train, providing day-to-day coordination and support across multiple product and delivery teams.
- Plan and lead all SAFe ART events including PI Planning, iteration reviews, system demonstrations, Inspect and Adapt events, and retrospectives, establishing clear agendas, objectives, decisions, and expected outputs.
- Coordinate iteration and PI start, execution, review, and closure, ensuring objectives, features, dependencies, milestones, capacity, and team commitments are documented and understood.
- Track progress against iteration goals and PI objectives, identifying and addressing issues affecting scope, schedule, quality, staffing, or delivery commitments.
- Coach Product Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and technical leads on SAFe execution, backlog management, risk management, and facilitation practices.
- Work with Product Managers and Product Owners to maintain backlog readiness, refine and prioritize features, and monitor workflow, capacity, and delivery trends to improve predictability and quality.
- Develop and maintain OKRs, PI objectives, delivery metrics, dashboards, status reports, and leadership briefings, using data to support prioritization, forecasting, and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate ART documentation, planning materials, decisions, and metrics in Azure DevOps Boards and approved Government repositories.
- Identify, document, and track risks, dependencies, roadblocks, and delivery constraints, developing mitigation plans with defined ownership, target dates, and escalation paths.
- Facilitate internal and external communications (e.g. task coordination, progress tracking/reporting, dependency management).
- Coach and mentor development team members around Scaled Agile methodologies.
- Understand, identify and encourage behaviors necessary to drive maturity in an agile environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to build trust and cohesion with the development team(s).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, government, information systems, business, health administration, or a related field
- Four or more years of experience supporting complex technology, data, healthcare, defense, or Government programs.
- Significant experience as an RTE, Agile program lead, Solution Train Engineer, or similar role supporting multiple Agile teams.
- Current SAFe Release Train Engineer or SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC) certification
- Direct experience planning and leading PI Planning, ART synchronization meetings, iteration execution, system demonstrations, Inspect and Adapt events, retrospectives, and other SAFe activities.
- Strong working knowledge of SAFe, Agile Release Trains, backlog management, feature readiness, team capacity, dependency management, product delivery, metrics, and continuous improvement.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps Boards or a comparable Agile management platform.
- Practical understanding of data products, data management, data integration, analytics, software delivery, application development, data science, or other complex technical environments.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Public Trust clearance
- Direct experience supporting DHA, DHMS, MHS, military health technology, or other large DoD healthcare programs is strongly preferred.
