REPORTS TO
Section Manager or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time.
PRIMARY POSITION PURPOSE
To prepare final layout and detail drawings for building structures and civil structures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Management of small projects
Write technical reports
Skill transfer to junior personnel
Draft bid responses
Price estimations
Quality control throughout the project life cycle
Ensure that appropriate technical standards and quality assurance requirements are adhered to
Apply a deeper understanding of engineering principles to devise and deliver practical and economical solutions to problems
Supervision of drawing production ensuring appropriate technical standards
Be a member of a multi-disciplinary team in project delivery
Provide technical support and guidance to peers and other functional groups within relevant level of expertise
Ensuring SMEC’s quality standards and management systems are adhered to
Improve and standardise the implementation of training, design processes and output, implementation procedures and quality control in order to improve efficiency and design standards within the discipline
Responsible for stakeholder liaison in projects, regarding own portion of work
Good software tool understanding, works alone with minimum supervision whilst producing tool deliverables
Taking ownership and responsibility for his/her own work and completing it to time and cost

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
BEng/B.Tech Degree at an accredited institution in Civil Engineering
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in design
Proficiency in Civil 3D
Proficiency in Idas and BIM360 will be an advantage
Understands the principles of the design process and how design is translated into deliverables through the use of software tools
Proficiency in designing and detailing municipal civil services
Can make good decisions on own initiative
Ability to draft technical reports of acceptable technical presentational quality
