Professional Engineer
Section Manager or any other person appointed from time to time.
The Professional Engineer provides independent professional engineering services on multidisciplinary projects within the Functional Group, supporting the successful planning, design, delivery, and close‑out of projects. The role contributes technical expertise, project and contract administration support, quality assurance, and client engagement, while assisting management and finance functions to achieve project, commercial, and organisational objectives.
Deliver high‑quality engineering designs, drawings, models, and technical solutions using Autodesk Civil 3D, CAD platforms, and BIM workflows.
Prepare clear, accurate technical reports and documentation of acceptable technical and presentational quality.
Check, review, and take professional responsibility for the work of engineers and technicians.
Supervise inspections and checks of constructed works for compliance with designs, specifications, and standards, and propose remedial actions where required.
Apply intermediate working knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) within design coordination and project delivery.
Maintain quality assurance processes throughout the full project life cycle.
KPIs: Design quality, compliance with standards, rework reduction, audit outcomes, on‑time delivery.
Assist with project budgets, resourcing, outsourcing, and workload planning within the section.
Support contract administration activities including Works Authorisations, Variation Orders, and claims assessments.
Assess contractor claims and prepare recommendations, rulings, or determinations.
Support verification of sub‑consultant invoices and compliance with contractual deliverables.
Work effectively across multiple projects and contracts concurrently.
KPIs: Budget adherence, turnaround time on variations and claims, contract compliance.
Assign, coordinate, and supervise work for engineers, technicians, and small project teams.
Manage sub‑consultants to ensure timely, compliant, and high‑quality deliverables.
Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior staff.
KPIs: Team productivity, deliverable quality, staff development outcomes.
Communicate with clients on general technical and project‑related matters.
Present and represent technical work internally and externally, including client briefings and technical forums.
Draft technical components of bids and proposals, with commercial support as required.
Identify and follow through on opportunities for additional work linked to projects.
Support marketing initiatives, service offerings, and identification of technologies and partners relevant to the Functional Unit.
KPIs: Client satisfaction, contribution to bids, opportunity identification.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 5 years relevant post‑graduate engineering experience in a consulting or project delivery environment.
Registered with the Engineering Council of Namibia (ECN) as a Professional Engineer or Incorporated Engineer, or eligible for registration.
Demonstrable competence in Autodesk Civil 3D and CAD software for engineering design and documentation.
Intermediate working knowledge of BIM principles and workflows within multidisciplinary project environments.
Experience in supervision of engineers, technicians, and site activities.
Sound understanding of project management, commercial, and contractual principles.
Strong communication, reporting, and presentation skills.
