Saas Engineer - Atlassian Platform Engineer Contractor Experience 5+ Years

Role Summary We are seeking an experienced Atlassian Platform Engineer Contractor to support and enhance Dropbox’s Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira Cloud, Confluence Cloud, Loom, and Atlassian Rovo. This individual will work closely with the Atlassian team to support escalations, implement solutions, reduce technical debt, improve platform reliability, and help teams get more value from the Atlassian platform. This is a hands-on technical role focused on administration, automation, operational excellence, and platform improvements.

Key Responsibilities Atlassian Platform Administration ● Administer and maintain Jira Cloud, Confluence Cloud, Loom, and Atlassian Rovo. ● Configure and support projects, workflows, permissions, custom fields, issue types, screens, and configuration schemes. ● Support platform upgrades, feature rollouts, and configuration changes. ● Monitor platform health, reliability, and performance. ● Troubleshoot platform issues and coordinate with Atlassian support when required.

Governance & Platform Maintenance ● Implement established governance standards and platform best practices. ● Perform platform cleanup and hygiene activities, including workflows, permissions, custom fields, schemes, and unused projects. ● Support standardization initiatives across Jira and Confluence. ● Review and maintain marketplace applications and integrations. ● Help reduce platform complexity and technical debt.

Automation & Workflow Implementation ● Build and maintain Jira Automation rules and workflow enhancements. ● Develop integrations using Atlassian REST APIs and approved automation platforms. ● Implement solutions designed by senior team members and platform owners. ● Support automation of onboarding, approvals, notifications, reporting, and operational workflows. ● Create and maintain technical documentation for implemented automations and integrations.

Operational Support & Escalations ● Act as an escalation point for advanced Atlassian platform issues. ● Troubleshoot complex Jira, Confluence, and Loom issues. ● Support incident investigation and root cause analysis. ● Maintain operational runbooks and support documentation. ● Partner with support teams to improve self-service and reduce repetitive requests.

Reporting & Analytics ● Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytics. ● Support platform usage reporting and license management activities. ● Monitor platform adoption and utilization metrics. ● Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and standardization.

AI & Emerging Capabilities ● Support implementation of Atlassian Rovo use cases and AI-powered workflows. ● Assist with configuration, testing, and rollout of new Atlassian platform capabilities. ● Help identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through AI and automation. ● Support adoption of AI-powered productivity enhancements across the Atlassian ecosystem.

Required Skills & Qualifications ● Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. ● 5+ years of Atlassian administration experience. ● Strong hands-on experience with: ○ Jira Cloud ○ Confluence Cloud ○ Jira Automation ○ Atlassian Administration ● Experience configuring workflows, permissions, schemes, custom fields, screens, templates. ● Experience working with Atlassian REST APIs and integrations. ● Experience with scripting or automation such as Python, JavaScript, Groovy, or PowerShell. ● Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications ● Atlassian certifications (ACP-120, ACP-620, ACP-100, or equivalent). ● Experience with Atlassian marketplace applications such as ScriptRunner, Assets, Tempo, Structure, Rich Filters, Xray, or similar. ● Experience with Atlassian Rovo and Loom. ● Experience supporting enterprise-scale Jira Cloud environments. ● Experience with Atlassian Guard, SSO, and SCIM integrations. ● Experience with automation platforms such as Workato, Okta Workflows, or similar. ● Experience performing Jira and Confluence cleanup, standardization, and governance initiatives.
