Job Description

Under the supervision of the Service Manager and the Chef, the Runner is primarily responsible for ensuring smooth service operations and effective communication between the kitchen and the dining room.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Announce and communicate orders at the pass to the Chef and kitchen brigade;
• Ensure consistency in the presentation and temperature of dishes before they are sent to the dining room;
• Act as the primary link between the dining room and the kitchen during service;
• Ensure all dishes meet established presentation and quality standards before being served to guests;
• Manage timing and pace to help ensure the smooth flow of service for each table;
• Maintain thorough knowledge of menu items and products to perform accurate and efficient visual inspections of dishes;
• Clean and inspect plates before they are delivered to guests;
• Work collaboratively with both kitchen and front-of-house teams to provide efficient and high-quality guest service.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the same or a similar position;
• Training in restaurant service or culinary arts is considered an asset;
• Experience in a high-volume environment;
• Strong ability to manage stress and prioritize tasks effectively;
• Leadership skills;
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative;
• Availability to work evenings and weekends;
• Excellent communication skills in both French and English, both written and spoken.
