Job Description

Under the supervision of the Service Manager and the Executive Chef, the Runner is primarily responsible for ensuring smooth operations and effective communication between the kitchen and the dining room.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Call out and communicate order tickets at the pass to the chef and kitchen brigade;
• Ensure consistency in plating presentation and food temperature before dishes are sent to the dining room;
• Serve as the sole communication link between the dining room and the kitchen;
• Ensure compliance with established standards for the presentation and quality of dishes leaving the kitchen and determine what is ready to be served to guests;
• Manage timing and pacing to ensure smooth service for each table;
• Maintain extensive product knowledge to conduct accurate and efficient visual inspections of dishes;
• Wipe and polish plates before they are delivered to guests;
• Work collaboratively with both the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure efficient and appropriate guest service.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the same or a similar position;
• Training in restaurant service or culinary arts is considered an asset;
• Experience working in a high-volume environment;
• Strong ability to manage stress and prioritize tasks effectively;
• Leadership skills;
• Self-motivation and initiative;
• Availability to work evenings and weekends;
• Excellent communication skills in both French and English, spoken and written.
