Job Description

Under the supervision of the Service Manager and the Chef, the Food Runner is primarily responsible for ensuring smooth operations and effective communication between the kitchen and the dining room.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Announce order tickets at the pass to the Chef and kitchen brigade.
• Ensure consistency in the presentation and temperature of dishes before they are sent to the dining room.
• Serve as the primary communication link between the dining room and the kitchen.
• Ensure compliance with established standards for the presentation and quality of dishes leaving the kitchen and determine whether dishes are ready to be served to guests.
• Manage the timing and pace required to ensure smooth service for each table.
• Maintain thorough product knowledge to ensure fast and accurate visual inspection of dishes.
• Clean and wipe plates before they are delivered to tables.
• Work closely with both the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure efficient and appropriate service for guests.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the same or a similar position.
• Training in food service or culinary arts is an asset.
• Experience in a high-volume environment.
• Strong ability to manage stress and priorities effectively.
• Leadership skills.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
