This position opens for a project focused on comprehending the pathogenesis of polycystic kidney disease, the #1 monogenic human disease leading to kidney failure and death. We integrate cultured cell lines, organoids, and animal models to understand how primary cilia regulate the formation of kidney cysts during development and aging. We welcome individuals who are highly curious to molecular mechanisms underlying human diseases and highly motivated and committed to explorative mechanistic research. Common molecular and cellular techniques are required, including molecular cloning, mutagenesis, cell culture and transfection, and immunoblotting.
Experience on recombinant protein expression and pull-down assays would be beneficial. Candidates familiar with various microscope imaging techniques especially immunofluorescence microscopy are highly encouraged to apply. The project also involves proteomics studies, as well as investigating disease phenotype in established mouse models using MRI imaging and histological analyses.
