The Real Time Operations Infrastructure Specialist Lead manages complex infrastructure assignments and provides expert guidance to team members while supporting the Transmission Operation Systems Leadership team. Responsible for leading and participating in the evaluation and recommendation of emerging technologies, managing advanced-level incidents, projects, and assessments, and demonstrating expert-level problem-solving and decision-making skills, this role will develop and communicate strategies for real-time operations, focusing on redundancy, availability, and system maintenance to mitigate risks associated with the Bulk Electric System and support SCADA and EMS systems.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and participate in infrastructure projects, initiatives, and incidents while mentoring and training staff.
  • Maintain advanced-expert level infrastructure knowledge and effectively communicate infrastructure challenges to senior leadership.
  • Coordinate and assign Infrastructure datacenter work tasks such as server installs, patching, change management, and incident resolution.
  • Direct the team in accessing key infrastructure data and propose methods to enhance performance.
  • Architect redundancy of systems. Perform high level consultation on system troubleshooting and risk assessment.
  • Consult on critical process documentation. Create and deliver engaging presentations and training, simplifying complex topics for diverse audiences.
  • Consult on change management activities.
  • Consult on network design. Ensure redundancy and reliability of network infrastructure. Coordinate network maintenance activities to achieve system integrity. Immediately respond to network outages and assist in analysis, troubleshooting, and restoration.
  • Design system backup scope and frequency. Coordinate and assign system restoration tasks.
  • Ensure all team members receive appropriate training and develop skills with physical and virtual computing environments.
  • Determine appropriate levels of system access. Assure account access controls and review processes are in place.
  • Provide guidance for control center technology. Coordinate and assign maintenance, support, and repair tasks of various control center systems. Create design standards for control center environments.
  • Represent OT Infrastructure on governance board discussions.
  • Formulate rigorous logic and methodologies to solve advanced infrastructure problems and advocate for process improvements.
  • Provide afterhours support as necessary to assist in complex system restoration.

Identify infrastructure gaps and provide solutions to enhance operational effectiveness.

What We're Looking For:

Education: Minimum of an Associate’s degree in an applicable area OR equivalent education and experience of a high school diploma/GED and two (2) years of relevant experience in an applicable area or certification in an applicable area. Applicable areas defined as: IT/OT System Administration, IT/OT Application Support, Cyber Security, ADMS/DMS/EMS/OMS/SCADA. Bachelor’s degree is customary and highly preferred / advanced degree is an added plus.

Experience: In addition to any experience included in education requirements above, must have ten (10) years of applicable experience with five (5) years domain experience in a related role. Experience will typically include ten (10)+ years in transmission operational technology with a strong background in OT infrastructure, as well as three (3)+ years of experience leading the work of a team on technology initiatives and projects.

Licenses/Certifications: CompTIA A+ or other Computer Science certification strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing highly complex efforts.
  • Demonstrated expert-level understanding of real time operations systems infrastructure.
  • Over-time, on-call assignments, flexible hour assignments, and occasional travel will be required.

$136,539.00 - $177,503.00
