About the Role


This is a hybrid role combining royalty accounting operations with data analysis. The core responsibility is to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of royalty calculations, payments, reconciliations, month-end closing, and financial reporting. You will maintain high standards of data integrity, ensure compliance with accounting and tax requirements, and leverage big data analysis skills to support business decisions. Additionally, you will serve as a point of contact for rightsholders, providing professional support and actively participating in system investigation, support, and process improvements to enhance the efficiency of royalty financial operations.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Royalty Accounting Operations: Take full ownership of royalty accounting and month-end tasks, including processing advances, royalty payments, sub-rights payments, and vendor/payee onboarding, ensuring all information is accurate and compliant.

  • Financial Settlement & Reconciliation: Responsible for journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure smooth monthly and year-end closing processes; manage the calculation and submission of annual tax reports (e.g., KU reports).

  • Royalty Calculation & System Maintenance: Configure, maintain, and validate contract and payee data within the system; execute royalty payments, settlements, and report generation to ensure the integrity and accuracy of calculations and system data.

  • Data Reconciliation & Anomaly Monitoring: Monitor settlement progress, identify data discrepancies, and collaborate with manager and team members to resolve issues.

  • System Support & Investigation: Demonstrate a strong interest in the royalty system; responsible for system investigations, troubleshooting, and daily support tasks.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a primary contact for rightsholders (e.g., authors), handling royalty inquiries with a strong service mindset to ensure timely and professional communication.

  • Process Optimization & Automation: Drive the automation, standardization, and continuous improvement of royalty settlements, payments, and financial workflows.

We Believe You Have

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analysis, or a related field.

  • Data Proficiency: Ability to handle big data with advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills; experience or a strong interest in learning BI tools (e.g., Looker, PowerBi) and AI. Be able to coding and debugging or manage heavy excel formulas by the support of AI.

  • Accounting Experience: Previous experience in Accounts Payable (AP) or Accounts Receivable (AR) is preferred; familiarity with basic accounting principles and payment processes.

  • Industry Experience: Experience in royalties, financial operations, publishing, music, or streaming industries is a plus.

  • System Aptitude: A keen interest in system investigation and support, with the ability to quickly learn and master new workflows and tools.

  • Fluency in both English and Swedish, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with authors and stakeholders; possess a high level of service orientation.

  • Strong analytical thinking and a proactive approach to solving complex problems.

  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a structured environment.

Most important goals for this role:

Deliver accurate and timely royalty calculations, payments, and financial reports.

Ensure accounting and tax compliance while maintaining system integrity for contracts, payees, and royalty data.

Provide reliable and professional support to internal and external stakeholders, particularly authors and rightsholders.

Identify and drive process automation and alignment to continuously improve financial operational efficiency.

Provide valuable insights to the team and management through system investigation and data analysis.
